I'm pleased as punch because I just figured out how to add my Library Thing books. Whoo-hoo!

Cool! I'm glad you liked Oscar Wao. The bit of Spanish I know definitely helped, but I'm woefully behind in my Spanish slang! I definitely learned plenty after this book, though.

I think you'll also like De Bernieres. He also wrote Corelli's Mandolin, which you might know (it was a movie with Nicholas Cage, though I never saw it).

I *really* like The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao-- just finished it. I was only so-so on it at first, but it turned out to be a lot different a book than what I expected from the first couple of chapters. It's like "In the Time of the Butterflies" meets Louis de Bernieres' Latin American Trilogy.

Hey Rosalie! Thanks for the tips. I think I'm for pain meds. I'm a wimp! I'm due March 16. (I think most of my belly is actually fat :) )
Glad your job is going well. I think English 101 - type questions linger even into grad school. What are they teaching these days? JK.
    Happy Wednesday,

    Rosalie,
I think my favorite Waugh is Vile Bodies, followed by The Loved One. Both are really great sharp, funny satire. He also wrote Brideshead Revisited, which was a big Masterpiece Theater miniseries way back when with Jeremy Irons. It's less funny, but I like it a lot.
