The books that interest me most on your wish list are the biographies of US presidents (I rarely read biographies, but I'd make an exception for this topic), the novel America, America, and the Kinky Friedman book (I LOVE Kinky!). You've got such a wonderful variety of books on that wish list; it would be fun to sample some of everything. :)

As for the Clinton biography... I've read so many different books about him, it's hard to choose one, but I think for an overall idea of what he's like (and you won't get this from reading anything he wrote), I think The Agenda by Bob Woodward is a good place to start. Since Woodward is a journalist, I found his book to be short on bias and long on information -- which is what I wanted.

Hey, sorry about the absence. I was working this week at a local preschool with Pre-Planning and dropping my son off at his school so my mornings were busy. That's my computer time. And today, we have two house showings, one at 10:45 am & another at 3 pm. So I'm trying to get caught up on everything, feed the baby & drink my coffee!

Something really weird happened. I went to check into the PBT group to see what the new tag was, & I'm not longer a member!! I'm thinking that someone removed me from the Administrators list & inadvertently took me off the whole group! What an odd feeling! Like you've been shunned on the playground LOL! I sent Anita a message just to make sure & rejoined the group. Weird.

Anyway, I see we are into Dragons for September. Not a big fantasy reader, but I'm sure I can pull something off. I would really like to go back & read a book specific for "Inspirational" since I was so into the TITTM thing. I'm really burnt out on that. Maybe it should have been for only a month. But like you, I did read some stuff that I wouldn't have otherwise. Now I'm really going to tackle some books on my TBR list that sound really good to me right now. Do you have anything picked out for the September tag?

Yes, I'm glad Fay is gone. But now there is another one out there & our family lives in Mobile, Alabama on the Gulf Coast which is where this one is supposed to hit. So we'll be watching it carefully. Hubby & I just got the tree cut up yesterday that fell due to Fay. We have to go buy another chain for the chainsaw today.

Hope you have a good weekend!!

Hi Michelle! I thought I would respond to your latest post her so as to not keep distracting everyone! :) I would highly recommend reading the books before watching the movies. The movies are good but, like most movies, they leave out quite a few things. The storylines they do incorporate though are very well represented and many of the characters and places look exactly as I envisioned them!

I am much more of a chick flick fan myself but I have very few friends who like them so I often barter movie watching. If they come to see something like Nights in Rodanthe (which comes out next month and I really want to see) then I'll see something non-girly with them! :)

I've just browsed through your Wish List, and I think I will include that in my adoption plans. :) I notice you've included Bill Clinon's autobiography. I read a fair amount of political books, and I've read a lot of books about the Clintons. I did plow through all of Clinton's autobiography, and it was by far the biggest waste of time I've ever spent on a book. If what you're looking for is information about the Clinton Administration to supplement what you've followed through the news, Bill's book is not the place to find it. I don't know many people who could write a totally unbiased autobiography -- who could be that clinically objective about his or her own life? But Bill Clinton didn't even try.

*Ma now gets off her political high horse and apologizes for this unsolicited political announcement.*

Fay is gone-For Now. They say now that she is turning around & coming back this way!! Unbelievable! We had a beautiful fir tree fall down in our yard due to the ground being saturated. Some of the main roads are flooded & they are trying to evacuate people that live near the rivers because of the rising tides.

So you are really an outdoor person. I don't think I could ever keep up with you! My hubby doesn't do the camping thing. I went camping with my family when I was younger, my Dad liked doing that kind of stuff. But I married a city boy! But it's been fun. When we first started going out, I had a pet rat. He says that he should have know then that I was weird!! And now I have my son picking up all kinds of bugs-his favorite right now are roly polies. I have to keep an eye on him or he will bring them into the house!

I'm kinda glad this is the end of TITTM. I just finished Brave New World. Not something I would have picked out to read if not for this. But I have read a few things that were good. But I haven't read anything under this month's tag and that is a tag that I would really have liked. I think I might read something next month for Inspirational & then whatever the tag is for September. It should be getting close to finding out what the new tag is, huh?

I guess since I already knew you loved biking that it was a cyclist, but now that I look at it differently, I can see where it would look like writing.

So much for my spur of energy-Fay has taken care of that! It's been nasty all day & now in the evening, it's getting worse. My tomato plant blew over & my one poor little green tomato broke off! I picked up some other UFO's around the yard. The wind is really kicking up. And it's actually supposed to be here tomorrow. I'm supposed to go to a meeting in the morning for a job at the church preschool, I'm hoping it gets canceled. I really don't want to have to get the baby out in this mess.

Other than biking (and reading LOL), do you have any other hobbies/interest?

I'm impressed with your apparent interests, Michelle! American Presidents,America, travel, cycling, humor! All great! I'm afraid it is not so easy to tell anything about me from my shelves because I have read so many books over such a long period of time over so many periods in my life....Let me know what you pick up on if you are inclined to review some of my shelves. I'm always curious what they "say" about me!

So glad to be befriended and find someone who appreciated "Travels with Charley"!
And, yes, we have some other excellent books in common.
    Are you a dog person?

    Read on!

No I haven't read that one either. I think I will go add those two books to my "plans to read" shelf before I forget. Most of the Holocaust books I've read were a couple years ago, and I can't currently think of any of the names of them (and I don't think they are on my shelf...or not many are, anyway). I think a lot of the ones I've read have been YA or children's. I plan to check my library catalogue (literally, my library - I'm a librarian!) because I know I got a bunch from work a few years back.

The "tag-a-long" thing sounds perfect for my 5 yo. And then we have a 5 month old that could ride in the trailer. I've seen those, but they were rather expensive. I'd have to prove to DH that I was serious before I could invest in something like that. But I think taking the kids with me would be wonderful. And I might could even convince DH to go along. I would love to just stay on trails, no sharing the road with autos. There are a lot of people here that do that, and I try to give them plenty of room, but I know that if there was ever a mistake who would win & who would loose. I remember reading a long time ago about something called 'Rails for Trails" or something like that were old railroad tracks were being used for bike paths. Thought it sounded interesting. And I have a bike that I picked up from a local thrift store. We have a perfect neighborhood to ride in, very quite & lots of hills! Maybe I should walk for awhile first. It's just so dang hard for me to do anything like taking classes with having no one to watch the kids. And DH's schedule is so crazy, I never really know what he is working.

Do try to read A Thread of Grace. It is very complex in its list of characters but an overall great read. Thanks for all the bike info. You might have inspired me to get out for awhile today! So far, it's sunny outside. Haven't heard what the storm is doing. Hope Tenia is alright.
