“Happiness is not a possession to be prized, it is a quality of thought, a state of mind” Daphne Du Maurier

I am 26 years old and am an avid reader ever since I started putting my letters together to make words. I was fortunate to have a great set of grandparents that bought me books and fostered my reading. Now since I have to fund... more »

A great historical mystery involving King Richard and the mysterious disappreances (or deaths) of two princes. Inspector Grant, while recuperating in the hospital, attempts to restore Richard the Third's good name.

  • Why Mermaids Sing: A Sebastian St. Cyr Mystery (Sebastian St. Cyr Mysteries)
    • Rated 5 stars

An interesting mystery that has St Cyr scrambling to find who is murdering the sons of prominent members of the ton. As a backdrop more of Sebastian's past comes to life as well as a life changing secret his father was keeping from him. I agree with another reviewer, I'd like to see Hero in a more prominent role as well in the next book. I found Kat Boleyn's character as becoming boring and cliched. That was my chief complaint with the book. Other than that, I enjoyed and still recommend the series.

  • When Gods Die: A Sebastian St. Cyr Mystery
    • Rated 3 stars

Sebastian St Cyr's services are needed again. When a young woman is found dead with a dagger in her back (and in the arms of the Prince Regent...) officials are most interested in seeing a successful conclusion to the investigation. Resistant at first, Sebastian takes on the investigation when he discovers the woman was wearing the necklace his mother was wearing when she supposedly died. Tom and Kat return to aid in the investigation and more secrets about Kat are revealed... as well as secrets that Earl of Hendon kept from his son (Sebastian). An interesting read, not as good as it's predessor however.

  • What Angels Fear: A Sebastian St. Cyr Mystery
    • Rated 4 stars

An interesting historical mystery that has Sebastian St Cyr on the run.. he is accused of murder of an actress. However, there is more than just the murder of an actress. Political intrigue and espionage engage in a page turning back drop to the story. Sebastian sets about to clear himself of charges and finds more about his family than he originally thought. With the help of his former mistress/one time love and Tom, a young pickpocket, Sebastian starts an investigation to clear himself of murder.

  • The Secret History of the Pink Carnation
    • Rated 5 stars

I enjoyed this book, I know other reviewers felt differently.. However, I didn't take the book seriously, I read it purely for entertainment purposes. Eloise, working on her dissertation for grad school, delves into the world of Napoleonic espionage. She sets off to unmask the Pink Carnation. The story goes back and forth between present and past. It is a fun read.

A terrific first Pym read. Clever, witty, with a few tongue in cheek comments to keep the reader smiling. Jessie Morrow gets an unexpected marriage proposal, Miss Doggett involves herself in a case of marital infidelity, the new curate Mr. Latimer joins the group.. an enjoyable story.

Very sappy; the story started off very promising then the plot became too sappy and fanciful. Get it from the library if you would like to read it and save yourself some money.

Warren takes postcards with people's secrets they have sent him and makes a book. It is amusing, comforting, disturbing, and hearbreaking. Some people's secrets are so sad while others are amusing to read. It allows the reader peek into other people's lives for a brief moment in time.

  • Murder on St. Mark's Place (Gaslight Mystery)

Another terrific mystery for Midwife Sarah Brandt and Detective Sergeant Malloy to solve. I couldn't put it down, not as good as it's predessor, but still a great read. Sarah investigates a series of murders of young working girls. Great read!

This is one of those rare instances where the sequel is better than the it's predessor. I enjoyed reading this book. I couldn't guess the plot while reading it, which was a great thing! There was plenty of action and surprises.
