I get a lot of requests to recommend whether one should read the "Mermaid Chair" and I always say yes and why. So, I wondered why suddenly the interest since the book reviews left by several others for this book is not as favorable as the ones for Sue Monk Kidd's "The Secret Life of Bees". I've read the latter and to me the former is much better. As you probably already know, sometimes what appeals to one is different for another. The only thing I can do is recommend that instead of buying the book, check it out at your local library. Doesn't cost a thing and if you don't like it, just return it. :)
