The only thing I don't like about reading is knowing all the books out there that I want to read that I will probably never get to! Reading is essential to my mental health, and I self-medicate often. I do like most things I read: I love to escape to a different time, place, world, point of view, etc. I'm so excited when I meet other people... more »

how did you like the golden compass? I haven't read it before probably due to the rumors of the anti-religious sentiment theme. Would you recommend this one for an 11 year old? I know that it is one that my son is interested in reading sometime soon. Christina

Hello, I saw you added The Hiding Place, I have wanted to read this book. What didn't you like about the story? I am working on Elsewhere, a teen book that has been okay, although I wouldn't say that it is as great as others have said in the reviews. Christina

I've been working on my shelf...you should take a look. I decided to only put books on my shelf that I could at least give "two stars" to. Unfortunately, Les Miserables did not make the grade. Neither did any Shakespeare. How's that for an English major? I just started reading Portrait of Lady. I thought I had read it already, but I don't think I ever finished it. Now I have a couple of weeks to devote to it, so I'll finish it this time.

I just finished Daphne Du Maurier's My Cousin Rachel (for the second time) and I'm looking for a new book. Any suggestions? That Withering Heights looks good...do you think I'd enjoy it?
