I just graduated college with a double major in Communication and Political Science. I'm currently going back to school in an attempt to apply for an accelerated BSN program to become a nurse. I have loved to read for as long as I can remember, but attempting to get that 4.0 has really put a damper on my reading fun!

Would anyone be interested using Skype for our book discussion? It's free & we can all chat with each other instantly.
I was thinking it might be interesting to use a service like Skype or Yahoo Instant Messenger for our book discussion. This way we can all talk instantly without constantly refreshing our browser. Let me know any concerns you might have on the idea. And if like the idea I can go ahead and set up a discussion group contact list. I'll just need your user ID to add you to the contact list.

We will be discussing Jemima J by Jane Green Monday, June 29th and for those of you who have read Yada Yada Prayer group book one, we will be discussing it Thursday, July 2nd. Let me know if you plan on joining in the discussion!

    Thanks,

    June's pick~ Jemima J by Jane Green

    Synopsis:
~Jemima Jones is overweight. About one hundred pounds overweight. Treated like a maid by her thin and social-climbing roommates, and lorded over by the beautiful Geraldine (less talented but better paid) at the Kilburn Herald, Jemima finds that her only consolation is food. Add to this her passion for her charming, sexy, and unobtainable colleague Ben, and Jemima knows her life is in need of a serious change. When she meets Brad, an eligible California hunk, over the Internet, she has the perfect opportunity to reinvent herself–as JJ, the slim, beautiful, gym-obsessed glamour girl. But when her long-distance Romeo demands that they meet, she must conquer her food addiction to become the bone-thin model of her e-mails–no small feat.

With a fast-paced plot that never quits and a surprise ending no reader will see coming, Jemima J is the chronicle of one woman's quest to become the woman she's always wanted to be, learning along the way a host of lessons about attraction, addiction, the meaning of true love, and, ultimately, who she really is.~

Let me know what you think!

Hey Jessica, I was wondering if you have read any good books lately? Is there any new books your looking foward to reading? I know I have quite a few on my list as soon as I find time to read them. I'm going to Borders on Saturday and was wondering if you had any suggestions for our next bookclub read?

I read your review of Drop Shot. I've read all of Coben's stand alone novels and only one Bolitar. I tried reading Deal Breaker, but I couldn't get into it. I have loved all of his stand alone novels and think they are every bit as great as No Second Chance. I may take a while before giving his Bolitar series a try after reading your reviews. Promise Me (a Bolitar novel) I actually enjoyed, but it seems his earlier books in the series arent' as great.

    Hi Jessica!

Thank you for your note! Our two teenagers went to Jamaica over Thanksgiving on a mission trip with their school, so my husband and I went to Hilton Head Island for the week. It was WONDERFUL!! The weather was fabulous, a little chillier this year than last, but sunny and pretty. This is the third year for this particular trip. I made Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday night when everyone was home. How was your Thanksgiving?

I read "The Necklace" while we were at the beach. It was recommended as a possibility for our neighborhood book group. I thought it was pretty good. We are reading "The Swan House" now by Elizabeth Musser. I read it years ago and am re-reading it. We are having our book club meeting over lunch at The Swan Coach House restaurant in Atlanta and the author is joining us! That will be very special and we are all looking forward to meeting her and discussing the book. It just happened to work out that she is in town (she lives in France!) the day we are meeting and accepted the invitation for lunch. Lesson: It never hurts to ASK! hehe

I'm getting ready for finals next week and finishing some projects; getting ready for Christmas and trying to get to all the basketball and hockey games. I have three new books to pick up at the library tomorrow and don't even remember what I requested now so I guess it will be a surprise! hehe I am trying to get through one of Jodi Picoult's old ones (it's actually good but I am having trouble making time) and a non-fiction by Frances Mayes (sp??) "A Year in the World." She is the author of "Under the Tuscan Sun" that was such a great movie with Kathleen Turner.

I suppose you are also busy with finals! Read anything worth mentioning??

Hope all is well with you!

    Blessings,
    Evonne
