ASA, Oh my sisters in the deen. Do yourself a wonderful favor, read this book by our dear Sister Na'ima Robert. You will identify with her journey to know, and love the deen of Islam. You will hear the voices of other women, from every back ground in their words. You will be able to personalize the joys, challenges, and triumphs of women seeking to please their Creator. The reader is introduced to the Nikah and marriage in Islam and its joys and challenges. If you are a non-Muslim, this is a book that will give you a clear idea why women are converting to this way of life. If you have a friend that is a Muslima, you will understand her life. The book is really a unique celebration of Muslim womanhood.

A Salaam alaykum; Go to http://www.cheapestbooks.com. I checked before I wrote this note. They have several copies either used or new. The used start at 7.99 and up to 15.00 new.
In reveiw of this book, I absolutely loved this book. For anyone, who has reverted to Islam- this will warm your heart. And if you are not a revert, rather born Muslim, you will really learn what it takes, the will power, courage, and faith it takes to make the transition to the life of Islam. You will also learn, how hard it is for some- who have known the Islamic life, to hold on to the deen- in the times in which we live with the many deversions. It is a fantastic book.

Peace and Blessings; I loved this book, it is an honest and true book, one written from the heart. It gives the reader a glimse into the life of Barack Obama as a bi-racial child, a child growing up in America. It also eludes to the political climate of the times. I love this book, a biography of a very unique man. You will enjoy reading it.

  • Maryam: An Exemplary Muslim Woman

ASA, This is a wonderful book! This book gives the reader insight into the devout nature of Maryam, mother of Prophet Isa(SWS). The willingness of Maryam to be of service to Allah(SWT) and her characteristics are well worth emulating. This book also compares the righteous behavior of Maryam to the behavior commonly displayed in many societies today. This leads one to ask the question: Who do you wish to emulate? As an aside, this is also the most physically beautiful book, I have ever seen. The pictures and pages are amazing! Get this book, you will never be sorry!

  • The Autobiography of Malcolm X
    • Rated 0 stars

The autobiography of Malcolm X, what can one really say. At some other time in history, this story would not have taken place. At a time, when a person's worth would be recognized regardless of his race, this story would not have been told. Malcolm was a very intelligent person, who wanted to be a lawyer as a youth. He was told, that was not an occupation for a person of his race. He went on to do many things, in a self fulfilling prophesy of that doomed statement. Had it been another time in history, in this U.S, this would not have occured. Once started on a more righteus path, this man was unstopable. This shows us that any one, with the proper motivation can acheive remarkable feats. The book shows us the positive value of books as teachers, which Malcolm took full advantage of. The story tells us the positive changes, which occured in Malcolm's life after he of placed his faith in a greater power than hisself. True, Malcolm started in a wrong path with the NOI, but how many of our present day rightly guided Muslims also began on that path. I once heard this in describing life: "life is a journey, with many peaks and vally's." Allah(SWT) brought Malcolm X out of his past, his troubled history, his lack of conviction, and made him one of the first African Americans to embrace true Islam. The personal presence of Malcolm X, as witnessed by New Yorkers as myself, was just as remarkable as his story. What does this say, Allah(SWT) is always in charge and can change the life of anyone he desires. It does not matter if we do not think them worthy, Allah(SWT) is the final judge. In closing, I loved the autobiography. The book was written well, by a talented author who did a fine job telling this story.

The "Audacity of Hope" is a refreshing change, to the business of hum drum politics. I read this book after reading "Dreams of my Father" by Barack Obama. Although, it was slow going at times, it was well worth reading. I think we all want someone with the audacity to hope, as many of us are tattered and worn by what is in place now! Barack Obama is a refreshing candidate for change- ISA he will win.

ASA, Umm Zakiyyah is a very gifted writer. The author gives you a clear snapshot into the hearts and minds of the characters. This book however, brings up difficult issues, and questions. The book challenges the reader, and forces one to consciously think about one of the most difficult situations a Muslim woman may face. Not always, easy reading as we share the pain of the characters.
