John! Wow, I haven't gone on Shelfari in many a moon, and I had no idea there were messages waiting on here! Apologies :)If any of these questions remain.... I really like Special Topics. It definitely hooked me, as it's a good mystery. There were elements to it that made it somewhat obvious this was a first time novelist, namely overcompensation through vast amounts of literary references :) It's a worthwhile read for sure, and I'd be curious to hear what you think. I'd say it falls somewhere in the middle between being a vegetable of the book world and guilty pleasure junk food. Let's call it a juicy burger and a milkshake ;)I absolutely love One Hundred Years. It's totally worth your time, especially if you've got a penchant for Spanish Lit already.
