It was a pic of my cat, but now I have my kids and Santa and Mrs. Claus up there. Twirling is baton twirling, which is my daughter's sport and woot-woot is just a dumb sort of cheer : )

Hi Roopa - I'm just the admin of our group and have nothing to do with the running or design of Shelfari. I knew they were going to be updating, but I don't know the hows or whys of everything they changed. It's just something we'll have to get used to, I suppose.

Both are must read books.Zen has little story and lot of philosophy, like "sophies world",dialectics and hegel, plato and aristotle, long explainations on quality, all this discussed by a father and son while a ride on motorcycle through less trodden path.
To enjoy better read "the story of philosophy"by will durrant .

Honestly, I like Tagore's Short Stories much more than his novels. Chokher Bali in movie form - Rituparna tried it (in Hindi dubbed version too), you should be able to grab the DVD at Abu Dhabi.

I cam across some interesting observation on jews and christanity and persecution of jews in Germany and the fact that jews are generally loathed in most places they live. it goes something like this - usuary - that is lending money on interest is forbidden both by christanity & Islam. But the fact remains that there is time value of money. As trade developed, there was need to borrow and lend money and the only people who could do this in post Reanissance Europe without losing their faith were the jews. This led to accumulation of wealth with the jewish community and with wealth also came education, culture etc. This led to a sharp division between the haves (jews) and the have nots (christians & muslims). The bitter effect of this was jewish persecution in Germany and the continuing palestinian problem. If you have read Harold Robbins novels there is frequent mention of how jews are (were?) hated also in America. To this day, most of the european and american bankers are of jew origin.
