Let's see. I enjoy art. I took courses at the Art Institute at Portland, Oregon, majoring in Computer Animation. So, I liked filming and animation, but especially enjoy special effects. I animated "Grandmother Spider Steals the Sun" (a Native American tale), so old tales and myths can sometimes take my fancy.
However, my real interest lies in fine art. I especially enjoy working with acrylics and oil pastels. I like to create characters. I also like writing poetry and fiction, and often illustrate my stories, whether written down or not. I also like crafts, knitting, crocheting, gardening (but I have a brown thumb), a little cooking, some outdoor activities like mild hiking, crabbing, and camping.
My husband and I have a sun conure and three cockatiels.
As for reading (after all, that is what this site is about! ROFL!!!), and movies as well, I especially enjoy mysteries, but not hard core. Women authors and women sleuths (amateur sleuths over professional, but there are always exceptions), animal sleuths.
I really love historical mysteries. I especially ones featuring the early to late Victorian period or the American Civil War, but I don't mind going forward a bit in historical times or back in American history. I also like mysteries that expertly weave in stories from the past with stories from the present day.
My three favorite historical mystery writers are Miriam Grace Monfredo, Anne Perry, and Victoria Thompson.
On the side, I enjoy some fantasy and supernatural can be thrown in...although I tend to watch more science fiction, fantasy, and horror than I read. I do like science fiction and fantasy books, however, by Elizabeth Anne Scarborogh and Anne McCaffrey.
I am branching out into Chick Lit (I actually found some books that I like!) and historical fiction as well.
