I am a bookaholic! My house is overflowing with books both read and yet to be read! And as my brother once said as we entered the Redwood City Public Library, "Is there any book here that you haven't read?" I would have to say that I have been on a streak of reading natural history type books, really delving into the minutia in life (mosquitoes,... more »

    Hi, Erin,

My friend request was based on three things. One is that I also live in the SF Bay Area. Two is your acknowledgement of cookbooks as literature adn three, it's knitting season, isn't it? My room mate and I are late discovering Stich and B-- and are knitting furiously away here. She's the daughter of a knitter who just caught the fever.

Hi Erin! I hope you are getting better.....Anne has told me you had a setback:(. Thanks for inviting me to join this group...unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to devote to it as right now I only have the internet at work:(. "Water for Elephants " is one of my all-time favorites (tho it is not intellectual it is fascinating and has everything.....history, romance, grit, humor, warmth, sadness and joy!

I also look forward to reading "Thunderstruck"....I am going to ask for it for Christmas....he is a great author!

Happy Holidays to you Erin!...I hope the New Year brings you better health and a lot of joy!

    Fondly, Pam

    Hey there, Erin!

Hope you are doing well! Since I see that you enjoy reading cookbooks, here's one for you to check out. It is "La Bonne Cuisine de Madame E. Saint-Ange". This is a cookbook that is meant to be read, as every recipe is fully detailed out (and some even contain the "this is the only way" commentary & opinions of the author, which add to the entertainment value). See what you think!

    Hi Erin,
I just joined, read your request and my answer is you absolutely must read ALfredo Vea's book 'gods go begging'. I would love to hear your thoughts when your done! It is my absolute favorite novel. It is really more real than most non-fiction. This is a book about the human condition, the power of love to transform human experience and the intricate connection of all people on earth. Powerful stuff! Have a hanky nearby! And you will be left touched moved and inspired- with hope!
