Lea - You responded to my comments on Infidel. Another book you might like about women and Islam is an older book by Geraldine Brooks "Nine parts of desire" (also non-fiction). It gives insight into a great range of women's lives in the Muslim Middle East. I also read Wild Swans - it was quite a history. Carol A
Hi Lea, sorry I never got back to you but really have not been on the site for some tie. I have read some of NT Wright's lectures and skimmed some other stuff. I enjoy his freedom of a big God. My concern with his writings, and I know this is subjective, is that i find he lowers God to humanity and raises humanity towards God. This is not the biblical story as humanity consistently failed in God's sight, hence the need for the son of God. Hope this does not sound as preachy to you as it does to me. I do like how he describes a God who cares and is up for the task. kevind
