Awesome! Wisconsin is one of my favorite states. I'd like to just travel all around it and paint lighthouses and waterfalls and scenics. In 2007 I made a self-directed artist's retreat to Washburn on Lake Superior --- it was great!

I will definitely check out more from Michener. The Drifters is my first by this author. Nice to meet you.

You are correct. Little Chute is slightly Northeast of Appleton, about 15-20 miles south of Green Bay. Reading your notes, I see you painted that lighthouse, you're very talented! I do enjoy Koontz a lot, in fact I just picked up book 1 in the Frankenstein series at Half Price Books, i'm anxious to start reading it as so many claim it's their favorite by him.

    Hi J R,

I enjoy many of the authors on your shelf. And there are many more I've never tried. I think I might add a few titles to my library queue from your shelf. You have good tastes.

Thanks for the feedback. I never was much of a history fanatic before, indulging mostly in heavy fiction with little to no resemblance to reality, but lately I've been finding that truth is stranger than fiction. I'll half.com a copy of Centennial soon.

I do have him on my list. Unfortunately, some of my titles I have on my TBR list aren't available at my library. Will make do though. Thanks for the recommendation.

I agree about Michener's books - loved all that I read, but didn't read all that he wrote. An oversight on my part, mainly. I'll pick up one every so often. And I love to learn history through reading - the way we learned it in school was so uninteresting. Even though fictionalized, one knows the author did research so that most of it is factual. What isn't won't matter much (to me) anyway! LOL.

Jr - Thanks for your note. Quite a few years ago I read a Hillerman book on suggestion of a girlfriend who loves his books. I wasn't taken as she was, so I've never tried one again. I'll rethink that and try again, though.

I love your avatar; is it a painting you did yourself? I'd never ask except that you state that you're an artist, and it stands to reason that it might be one of your own. My sister has done watercolors for over 20 years, does them absolutely beautifully, and I own a couple of hers. (I tell her that if she becomes famous, I'll be the proud owner of a couple of Gomezes - and she laughs). This fall I joined a pen & ink w/roughing class and did three, which I loved; gave 3 to my kids as gifts and hung one on my FL home wall. There's talent in our genes, but not used much. This fall, when I return to FL, I hope to learn colored pencil drawing. What medium/s do you work in?
