    Hi Evelyn,

I would like to recommend the Dark is rising-series to you. "Over Sea, under Stone" is the first book in a series of 5. It's about a group of people representing the Light who try to stop the Darkness from taking over the world. It's a little hard to explain in short, but if you want to know more about the books you can also check my shelf under the tag 'the dark is rising'. I'm sure you will like the book. Susan Cooper was a student of Tolkien & Lewis and their style of writing you find also back in her books. While reading it I finally had that Harry Potter-feeling again: I had to finish the books as fast as I could and almost couldn't wait for the next one. Hope you like them as much as i do. Maybe you want to let me know what you thought about it?

    Keep on reading!
    Monique

P.S. They made a movie from the second book 'The dark is rising - The seeker'. If you have seen this movie, it good to know that it doesn't compare to the book at all. It was a nice movie, but the book is so much better.

Hi Evelyn. The folded ears are the hallmark of the Scottish Fold breed. It's a genetic mutation, first noticed here in the West in 1961 (though there was mention of Fold-eared cats in 18th century China, if I remember rightly) The first known Scottish Fold was Susie, a white cat who turned up in the village of Coupar Angus in Scotland, in 1961. My first Fold, Cobber, can trace his ancestry right back to Susie, through her near-descendant, Denisla Morag!
My Nefret, his great-great granddaughter, had her first kittens two days ago, and very cute they are too! :))
Have you ever seen the American Curl? Where the Scottish Fold has ears that fold forward, making a cute cap to frame his very round face, the American Curl's ears fold backwards! You can find pictures of both breeds on the site of the Cat Association of America.

    Hi there, Evelyn,
The Architecture Reader is a compilation of essays by various architects spanning a 2000 years, but most of the essays are from the 20th century. It a must read for anyone who is interested in modern, post-modern, and sustainable architecture. I've actually studied architecture in a few classes, so I think my interest in the subject is probably more than the average person. Ditto for my interest in cats! - Jess

in reply to your question, one twelve-week old kitten has just left, and someone is coming to see her brother today. My Nefret is expecting her kittens on or around April 15th. There are lots of photos on my blog, and news of new kittens will be posted there too :)Here's the link, if you want to save it,

Hi Evelyn! Mo, I haven't read the book you mention, but will look out for it. At the moment, there's a lot happening around here, so I don't get much time for my favourite pursuit. I hope to be able to get back to some serious reading again very soon, once the new kittens are safely here, and the 'old' ones have left!
