Hi! I am middle school reading teacher who loves to read and loves to do anything active! About half of the books I read are adolescent novels (which are amazingly good lately!) and the half are actually adult novels for me :)

    Hey Lisa-
I read a good review somewhere about a YA book called "Elsewhere" by Gabrielle Zevin. I remembered that you have read a lot of YA books so thought I'd see if you've read it. It's not on your shelf. Have you read it? Heard about it?

I'm also really interested to hear what you think about One for the Money. I read it and wasn't impressed. I didn't understand what all the hype was about so that was the only one of her books I ever read.

Wow, there are so many good ones out there. I am going to read the second book in the series of a Child Called It. I don't know if you've read that one yet. I also just read about the life of Anne Boleyn. That was pretty good. I've read quite few stories about survivors of the holocaust. For some reason I can't think of any right off the top of my head, but feel to check out my bookcase to see if anything looks interesting to you

You might want to check out "Don't You Dare Read this Mrs. Dunphrey by M. Haddix." I think you will love it, as it is funny & sad. Sixth graders could really relate to her life struggles plus the other side of her life which is much more difficult to relate to.

Hi Lisa, I just finished reading The Glass Castle and I think you should add it to your want to read list. I thought I had seen it on your shelf already, but when I looked last night it wasn't there...add it. Talk to you soon!

Welcome to Better than Starbucks! Look around, make yourself at home, start a new thread or dig up an old one or just read and jump in on the more active ones.

Yes, I read the Tree book when I was younger. Don't remember it that well. I have it and might reread it though. Am reading a YA book now that Libby liked: Fever. Read it?

That's a bummer. I do have it here at home. It always throws me for a loop because it has a very different cover than the one with the dress on it. Maybe I'll put that one on the back burner...I have plenty of others to read!

Oops, might've accidentally been logged on as my daughter! She is sharing my computer, and somehow I became her briefly, I guess! :)

OMG. I suspected that it was STL as my dad has a friend who is admissions dir. at TJ school and I remember that she had some connection to that book. It is kind of over the top but has a definite "STL/Ladue/Country Day Lilly P. SUV Mom" feel. Ick!

I just finished A Wolf at the Table and really liked it. I had no intention of reading it-I picked it up from the library on whim, and I am glad I did. I think you will like it. Now, what to read next....

I had very high hopes for Thirteen Reasons Why. I am still reading it and so far, I really like it, but I don't love it like I thought I would. It's an interesting concept. What did you think of it?

Yep, I'm reading The Tenth Circle...it's on Lifetime as a movie on the 28th of this month I believe so I want to get it read before then! Have you read that one? I'll have to see if it's on your shelf!

Thank you for your comment about my little profile--I was inspired (and I did it all by myself)! I hope you are enjoying your summer so far. We'll play Scrabble soon. I've been reading One Hundred Years of Solitude, have you read it?

I just finished it! Very good! I loved the Epiloge...how creative! I didn't even realize it was like that when I bought it. I stayed up until 2:30 AM reading and would've read the whole thing last night if my eyes would've stayed open!

Hi Lisa- I see you ended up liking A Change of Heart...is it still not one of your top 3 by her? Just wanted to drop by and tell you that I'm going to start reading "The Wednesday Letters" tonight! I'm pretty excited. I went out and bought it at Walmart...I just couldn't resist!

I finished the book...have you? What did you think? I gave it 5 stars, but My Sister's Keeper is still my favorite of hers so far.

My mom said the same thing about 90 minutes. She said that the guy kept repeating himself every chapter! She also said she thought it kind of got "preachy" at the end. I haven't made it any farther in the book...don't get to read until after I get all the kiddos to bed! Have you heard of www.paperbackswap.com? I just joined it and love it! If you buy your books and don't mind giving them up when you are done reading them, you should check it out. It is free and the premise is that you just trade books with people. If you want to join, please let me know so I can give you my e-mail and you can use me as a referral (I get an extra point, which means an extra book!)
