    Hi Jo
3rd time lucky - I sign on then get interrupted BUT all in bed so here goes.

wow that is soooooo cool I am totally envious but in a good way. Not long to wait. What a bugger re the transportation hassles. and thanks appreciate the advice re checking the details ourselves - how frustrating for you!

How funny pretty much all the places you want to visit on your next trip (you'll have hubby hooked) are the same places we want to see. My hubby went over in 1998 on a conference and it was like Christmas when he returned pressie wise but he couldn't help repeating himself how much more enjoyable it would have been to share with me. We have offered our teenages to join us but they have to come up with their flight & spending money (trying to encourage a bit of saving here) plus both will be out of school by then so hopefully it will be all 5 of us. Our daughter will be nearly 3 by then too so she probably won't remember but at least hopefully she will be easier to entertain on the 17 hour flight (OMG that completely freaks me out when I think about it. I'm ready to get off after 3 hours to Oz)!

How lovely re your kitten. I can so relate to you re the animals and going away. An overnighter or weekend is so easy.

Thanks for the recommendation for The reading bug. I've scored a copy of the latest version for myself 2nd hand for $8 so looking forward to getting into it sometime!

sorry I can't find the name of that book I recommended - silly me just noted the author after not finding a copy listed at our local library - I'll do another search and get back to you.

I'm off now. Catch up again soon
    Take care
    Sharon

    Hey Joanne,
I sent you a Private Mail with my theme and choices (there are 6; sorry, but I couldn't quite narrow it down to 4-5 :) ). Anyway, let me know what you think! Thanks again...
    Best, Joe

Hi Joanne. Wow, thanks for all those tips about visiting; I'll definitely contact you when I'm getting ready to travel there. It looks as if I'll have to stay a month or longer....I wish!

Yes, please let us know how your holiday turned out and what rides your son loved the best. I wish you a safe and fun trip! Take care.

Hi Jo When do you go away for your trip of a lifetime? We are in the planning stages of organising 6 weeks in the US and Canada late 2009 so will be waiting to hear what you recommend etc.

You inspired me to have a clean out of my hoard of books which I don't have a bookshelf for so they were hiding in the hall cupboard just sitting since I last read them! Nice to have a bit of cash which seems to go on my more clothes for our daughter (she has more clothing than me but that is another story...)

Just added a book from your reading list "The reading bug" - sounds wonderful (hope our library has it). I found a great book when searching for ideas to celebrate our eldest son's 18th birthday by Robert Lewis which a reader from another website gave examples such as asking Men our sons look up to or respect and know to write them a letter to highlight their positive qualities and how they can help them to succeed. I found this too late, but thought this is such a great idea that I will organise myself to do this for his 19th and our youngest son's 18th (a few years away).

How's the kitten you rescued? I'm working on getting a Abby kitten later in the year and hopefully we will get a dog after our trip away if we don't catch the travel bug....

Hi Joanne. How are your plans for Disneyland, did you change anything of your itinerary? Jay, my nephew, keeps asking questions. I had to explain to him that you haven't gone yet. He's really excited for you and your family!

Was just wondering...where do you live in New Zealand. I visited there back in 1990. I visited Aukland, Wellington, Picton and Christchurch (in that order). I absolutely fell in love with your country! I'd love to go back and visit other parts of the islands. What cities do you suggest to visit on both islands?

    Take care. Ann

Thank you for the invitation Joanne. Just joined the '80's group. Like my TBR shelf, I'm getting carried away with joining groups. I think I will stick to 5 which is what I have now. Otherwise it will be hard for me to post on all of them. Thanks again.

I'm sorry to hear that you are missing most of the shows :( Yes, the shows are worth watching especially Fantasmic and my nephews liked Alladin. But you guys will be so jet lagged and tired; it wouldn't be worth dragging yourselves there and being miserable the next day. Just rest up and stick with the itinerary. It will give you and your family an excuse to come back to the States again. Jay says Thank you for the birthday wishes. He said don't forget to go on the Raiders ride and the jungle ride next to it. Again, have fun. By-the-way, I like long notes :)

Sorry, it took me so long to get back. No, I don't think there's such a thing as seeing "too much" of Disneyland. I live in Sunnyvale, CA or the "Heart of Silicon Valley". I'm 6 hours away from LA by car. September will be warm/hot. I'd bring a light weight or a sweatshirt for the evenings. Jay, my nephew, who will be 7 tomorrow is right by me. He said to go on the rides. He liked the haunted mansion, the tea cups, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Pirates of the Carribbean, Peter Pan, Matta Horn roller coaster, actually he's saying go on everything!! LOL!! We can't wait to go back. I'm not sure about the times and I don't think there is such a thing as an OFF season at Disneyland. I think it's busy ALL THE TIME. Remember, it's the happiest place on Earth. Have fun.

What I meant by it gets old is: When I was a teenager and even earlier in my 20's...it was great. Clubs/dancing...LOVED IT! I was a party animal. :) But I grew out of that and now I love being at home. I am very much a home-body. I like to go to the movies somethings, but I have the entertainment center of a theatre so I love staying home to watch them 2! Don't get me wrong I love to shop, but that gets old 2! (Hanging my head in shame at what I just said) LOL! Where I was in NY - we were only an hour anyway from the city. And they had an outlet mall about 20 mins away. Have you ever seen "Gilmore Girls"? That is kind of town I want to live in. Small, but still a close enough distance from the world. :) Yeah, your right the grass is always greener. :)

I am sitting on the actual chair Captn. Kirk/ William Shatner used in the filming of the original Star Trek. The rest of the bridge around me and a replica.

My crystal ball tells me that the weather here in San Diego in September will be ....perfect! No sweaters needed.

LOL! You are way behind..."An Officer and a Gentleman"... was a few seasons ago. :) I won't tell you who he picks. :)

I LOVED to NY, but I wasn't in NY City. I was upstate. It is a VERY VERY small town. Everyone knew everyone and it was beautiful, peaceful & quiet. I live in a city here in Florida and it get old. I am a home body. Cities are over priced and over crowded. And believe it or not I am NOT a people person. LOL! My husband wants to move to Georgia or North Carolina. One day!!! Talk to you later!!
