For relaxation, I enjoy a good thriller or suspense book. I also enjoy reference books, learning about people and the cultures of the world.
In summary, I usually will read... more »

    Thanks for your note.
It does appear we are all busy these days. At the moment I am not reading for leisure at all and may not be doing so for some time to come as I am taking an intensive Italian course here in Rome to be able to adapt myself to the new environment.
I wish you and your family a wonderful weekend.

    Greetings Shelfari friend!

Haven't been around much recently, been a very busy summer (hopefully not over yet either). How did yours go? How are things with you?

I'm on my 70th book so far this year so it's been a pretty good one.

Read anything good recently? Or anything that should be avoided?

    Hello dear Angel,
How are you doing? It's been a long time. I hope all is well with you. How are you celebrating the Holy week? May the grace of the Lord accompany you through this time and always.
I wish you a nice celebration of the Holy week. May this week be a week of grace and blessing for you as you identify with our suffering Saviour on His way to the Cross. He knows you, He knows your situations and His suffering is for your salvation and liberation from your darkened situations. Open your heart for Him to come in and you will see the miracle of His saving power. Have a spirit filled Holy Week.

    Hi!

The Minneapolis-St.Paul-Minnesota Group recently hit 100 members, so we're kicking off a 100-Member Celebration! Details are available on the group site. Hint: It involves a drawing for some gift certificates, and participation is required in order to be eligible for the drawing :-) Come celebrate with us!

Also, we've announced that our summer group read will be Leif Enger's newest book: So Brave, Young and Handsome. I'm reading this book right now and will have the discussion thread up by next week. The thread will be available for discussion this entire summer.

I'm a rabid fan of Chuck Palahniuk and love all of his but. By far, Rant is my favorite. I don't want to give anything away but let me just say that he poses a lot of questions in there about existence and interactions that made me think in a way that hasn't made me think with one of his books before. Brill!

Sounds an interesting story. Good luck with your class.

Never heard of Steve Thayer but his books sound good. I've added them to my wish list and will look out for them on my travels.

    Hi Angel,

I just wanted to send you a quick note to tell you that the Minneapolis-St.Paul-Minnesota Group has chosen some good books to read and discuss together during the upcoming months. Our Group Read for the months of September/October will be The Master Butcher’s Singing Club by Louise Erdrich and the group read for the months of November/December will be Growing An Inch by Stanley Gordon West. Both books are by Minnesota authors.

I invite you to join us in reading and discussing these books. Personally, I just finished reading The Master Butchers Singing Club and thought it was a powerful piece of historical fiction with intriguing characters. Should make for an interesting discussion.
