Pietro Piscatori

Born of a Hungarian gypsy bookseller and a Labradorean cod fisherman, my dna contains genomes for a love books and brooks. My taste in books, like my ability to focus, is wide and erratic (also, this probably helps explain why I'm a jr. high school media specialist).

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that we are currently taking nominations for September/October group reads for the Minneapolis-St.Paul-Minnesota group .The books nominated don't have to be by Minnesota authors or have Minnesota ties, but that is preferable. Feel free to nominate any genre and type of book, as long as you think it is interesting and relevant to this group. Nominations will remain open for at least one more week, at which time I will close nominations and we will vote.

There is also a separate thread to discuss how the group want to proceed with group reads in general. Whether or not to do them. How often, etc. Your input on this subject would be very much appreciated also!

HI! I have been out of town for a week...just got back. Yes, you can borrow it I assume you are talking about the Fink book. I am almost done, but I need to warn you: I have marks and notes in it. I am actually liking it quite a bit, but only because I am sort of dorky about this kind of stuff.

hiho. the shack is a phenomenon, i think. i didn't even rate it because i can't. yet. i think i need to read it again. and then maybe again. i own that one and you may borrow. similar in the "answers to age-old questions" genre is letters to a skeptic. greg boyd. local pastor. have that one too. as for snow: i really wanted more cuban life description, but the author is describing memories from when he was 10ish maybe and the son of a judge. but i think to be read, yes. i don't think i have that one, but will look. hugs.

I am still reading it. Here's the thing...I have gone from ridiculous Patterson to teen-Twilight-trio to pseudo academic Whole New Mind. I am into this kind of stuff. Pink is a good writer in that he is not trying to be fake-sophisticated. The concept is not NEW, but still, it is a shift, and I like the concept behind why we have to train people differently. Plus, being more of a creative person than an analytical person, it is a breath of fresh air to give credit to the importance of right-brain snaz to complete and augment the left-brain (he calls it left-minded) product. Have you heard of Cupcake Brown's _Piece of Cake_?
