I dont know why as fantasy is not my genre but I love these books - Rachel Caine has created a cast of characters which are just human enough to be credible but with an extra dimension - my guess is that all women fall in love with both David and Joanne - David because obviously he is gorgeous and clever and loving and Joanne because she is sassy, smart and loves her designer clothes and shoes - I hope the series goes on for ever

I guess like most "non believers " I read books about Christ and the apostles quite a lot because I love stories and there aint many as intriguing as the story of Jesus of Nazareth - I really enjoyed this book, very very believable and fits in with my own "take" of how it might have been - the writing style was modern but the author conveyed the time and the place very well and the back story held it together tho slightly remenicent of Angels and Demons ( the library scenes )

This was the most densly written book I think I have ever read - full of the tiniest detail, the research must have taken years - I found it hard going for that reason - it was a fascinating book about cunning and manipulative women, Stella wasnt the only person up to no good even her friends had agendas !
I have to say though that the case against her didnt convince me one hundred percent of her guilt though there was so much going on that sometimes I was confused - I will definately read more true crime by this author

I really enjoyed this book not only the style of writing but I learnt so much about the subject - I liked the fact that the back story came out piecemeal and when you least expected it - the characters were well written and sympathetic for the most part - I also ( which is unusual for me ) liked the "tidying up " at the end it gave the story resonance for me

well what a book ! stunning - I read it with my heart in my mouth specially knowing it was being narrated by death - the characters are so real you fall in love with all of them and dread what may happen to them - beautifully descriptive turns of phrase you could see it, feel it , be it
definately one to keep and read again as I am sure you would find more in it each time

Well ! I read the first Sophie Hannah ( Little Face ) and tho I enjoyed it I thought it was a little too twee for me - this book however is a real stunner - the first couple of chapters were again a little too much thinking and talking about thoughts etc but then all of a sudden it took off and I read it in a kind of breathless way wondering what on earth would be revealed next - basically the story is that Naomi has been having a sort of affair for over a year with a married man - I say sort of because they only meet once a week for 3 hours in a motorway service station room - he then fails to arrive one week and she is distraught and, feeling that something terrible has happened to him, trys to report him as a missing person to the police. From then on in its a roller coaster ride but not with wild swings - a very subtle roller coaster is this you find yourself going back a page and rereading what you just read to make sure that you didnt miss anything - it unwinds and unwinds and unwinds - fascinating stuff !
After Little Face I wasnt sure if I would be rushing to read another one of this authors books - after this I cant wait

  • We Need to Talk About Kevin: A Novel
    • Rated 0 stars

I think that what makes the book believable is that it is entirely the mothers thoughts about her son - she is unable to get proper perspective especially due to the complete opposite view of Franklin - this is innermost feeling stuff and what mother has not looked at a child even fleetingly and thought that maybe things were not quite right, but then batted the thoughts off as paranoia or just teenage angst - if there had been outsiders views of Kevin alongside Eva's thoughts then the book would not have been what it was imo

  • All The Pretty Girls

I really enjoyed reading this book - the main characters were instantly knowable and likeable and what a treat to read a book where the lovers love each other throughout the book and they are happy throughout the book !
Interesting story line and the blood and gore wasnt too explicit which is how I like it
I did think I knew who the bad guy was about 3/4 the way through but that didnt spoil it for me - I hope there are more Taylor and Baldwin books

  • Fool Moon (The Dresden Files, Book 2)

I just loved this book - as I suspected the first one was just a scene setter and introduction to the characters , Harry is very endearing - this book really moved us on - werewolves and gangster bosses it was great - very fast moving and the final denoument was stunning I read it out of breath and of course at the end of it all felt sad for the loup-garou who could not escape his curse - I hope the rest of the series are as good

An absolutely fascinating read - very absorbing and its hard to take in the enormity of the deception here and then the final actions of the man - well written and meticulously researched
