Life is great here in Northeast Florida, and reading makes it even better.
I've been looking for a place on the net to fiind out what others are reading and to share the books I've spent time on. I read A LOT, LOL! Many genres, but in reviewing a list of books I've read since the early 90's led me to notice that I've read many more non-finction than fiction. Another consistant theme seems to be, books that have the author traveling and discussing his journeys around the U.S. and around the world. Many of these authors seem to humor in their travels, (Bill Bryson comes to mind....an author who's tales are always hilarious). I get a great deal of joy from reading books that I can learn something from.....geeky maybe, but, hey, that's me :)
A twist to my reading habits is: I don't read "print", only audio books and "talking books" from the Talking Book Libraries for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Having lousy eyesight is absolutely no reason to stop reading, in fact having a tape or CD playing with a narrator reading to me allows me to multi-task much more than if I had the book in my hands and my eyes focused on the pages. If you know anyone who isn't reading because of a visual or other print impairment, don't let them get away with it :) I'd be glad to assist anyone who needs advice, (or a good swift kick in the pants :).
AT any rate, here I am, and glad that Shelfari.com is here too.
