an avid reader at one time, i have recently slumped. however, i just won't stop adding books to my shelf and would continue to be a non-active part of the reading fraternity, hoping to pick it up where i left it when i can.

    HI,
Cool range of books sri! Do follow up Nehru with Gandhi's Experiment with Truth and you will get the most wonderful insight into why India is the way it is!
I have Grisham on my shelf but have not read it yet. Will check out helium.com. I did open an account with blogspot but never followed it up.
Love Shelfari! Ever grateful to Suj for introducing this to me! I just realised that you joined Shelfari just four days prior to me. Soon it'll be Happy Anni time!
Yes, my Ph D thesis is being published:-) sooooooo lots of hrs spent on creating perfect sentences!

I would like to recommend the Kite Runner to you. It's a sad but beautiful story. If you like this book, you could also read Hosseini's 2nd book A Thousand Splendid Suns. I think that one is even better then the Kite Runner.

    Keep on reading!
    Greetings, Monique

hi...stole time from house work and spent three blissfull hrs two weekends ago updating myself on what's in and read a book called " I bought the monk's ferrari" (!!) by a tam-bram and a mgt guru. Not worth buying or recommending if one is into 7-habits-of-highly-effective-people- level of books but still a good 60+ pager like "who moved my cheese"....how you doing and what's new from your end? Happyram.

Hello, I'm sorry to see you leave Shelfari. About the group: there has not been any activity at all, so perhaps just abandoning it is not too bad?

Hello - you read my profile and left me a note - calling me Michael. Wrong gender! My profile does say I'm Monique...
    You are surprised about the
2000+ books on my shelf but I have read many more, most Dutch and French books I've read cannot be found on Shelfari. So yes, I read a lot, and I have been doing that for a long time already.
You asked what chick-lit is: I looked it up in Wikipedia and here is their definition: Chick lit features hip, stylish female protagonists, usually in their twenties and thirties, in urban settings (usually London or Manhattan), and follows their love lives and struggles for professional success (often in the publishing, advertising, public relations or fashion industry). The books usually feature an airy, irreverent tone and frank sexual themes. The genre spawned Candace Bushnell's Sex and the City and its accompanying television series. Popular Chick lit novelists include Ireland's Marian Keyes, and Sophie Kinsella author of the Shopaholic series.
Chick-lit books are very light stuff, candy for the brain, I have heard them called.
