Nissanmama

I spend most of my time maintaining my high maintenance family. Reading is my favorite escape from the ordinary and the expected. For that reason I tend toward sci-fi and fantasy, but love a variety of books. I can recommend reading anything that I've ranked with three stars or more.
1 star = don't bother
2 stars = whatever is between... more »

After reading your review for City of Glass I so desperatlly want to read it. My only problem is getting a hold of a copy with out paying for it!! The county library hear stinks in the YA department. It has multiple copies of the James patterson novels (takes up two shelves) but does not even have the first two in the this series. The library does not even contain any of the past years Printz award winners. If I stay down here next year I am going to have to rent books online.

Yeah, that might work. I don't know that I would have made it through if not for that. There were stellar parts of the book and it was interesting to hear how she made it to the top, but like some memoirs, there is a lot of name dropping and that can become tiresome.

How are you liking Home. I bought it on CD a while back and listened to it. My favorite part about it was listening to her voice.

We loved the "Peter" series by Dave Barry. Well, the first two books. We listened to them on CD and have the Rundoon one coming soon so we can finish up the series.

I keep forgetting to ask you ---how did you like the movie, "Twilight?" I know you were trying to go out to Calif for opening night ---did that happen? I would love to hear about your experience. I haven't seen the movie, but two of my daughters did go see it. ---DeNiel

I'm still not using Shelfari because for some reason it takes my computer forever to load the graphics. Since I've already exhausted all my ideas as to why this is happening, I just continue at Goodreads and come over here whenever I get an e-mail saying you've updated to see what you've been reading. How's your book-a-week challenge going? Are you ahead, behind?

That's alright. Well, if I don't care for the first one, then I'll have something to look forward to.

City of Bones is the first book, right? It'd be my luck that it' steh2nd one. I'm not buying the other if it's a dud.

The language got to me at first too, but then again I hear everything under the sky at the high school so it was easy to overlook. What I really liked about it were the themes and how scary it is to have the Internet plugged into your head.

So, I finally made a shelfari for myself. It only took me getting sick and being on the computer all day so far. LOL

I know exactly what you mean. For reasons like this, I find it very hard to rate the books - sometimes - I guess it is good we can write the reviews too.

Why did you give Jacob Have I Loved 4 stars? Did I read correctly that you didn't like it?

I cannot find In the Eye of the storm by John H. Groberg. I searched Deseret book and they have The other side of heaven by Groberg, but In the eye of the storm by Max Lucado. What am I doing wrong?

Yes i completely agree with your opinion on "An Abundance of Katherines". I also couldn't help but notice that you have "Little Men" on your shelf. I've been meaning to read it because I loved "Little Women". How is it? Have you also considered reading "Joe's Boys" I think those are the three books in the March family trilogy.
