rosecoloredglasses

rosecoloredglasses

I fell in love with reading through my mother's Nancy Drew hardbacks found on my grandmother's shelves....

I've been accused a million times of looking at the world through rose colored glasses....maybe that's a result of all the good romances I've read and the fact that I am one of the very blessed women in this world who married a...more »

    Vickie,

I have a child with the flu, Grant, and another one getting sick. Oh, the joys of parenthood. Maybe we should try to have breakfast next Saturday. I think that would be March the 8th. Love you,

    Hey Girl,

I had a good Christmas. We had to make the jog to Washington for the weekend before and for Christmas Eve. We got home in the wee hours of the morning. Fortunately Trevor slept until 10:00 ( this is unusual) so we got off to a slow start on Christmas morning.

Hope you had a good Christmas. How about breakfast on Saturday morning?

I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year! Stay warm! I'm kind of hating the high 70's, low 80's here. I miss being in the north during Christmas.

I find that rosecoloredglasses prbably work the best in life. Ihave never been able to tint the ones I am wearing. This causes life to weigh too heavy. (Edited for the English teacher in you)

Vickie, thanks for the add. I see that not only are our tastes in books similar, I love the classics too, but we've been married almost the same amount of time too. I look forward to seeing what you're reading. Sandy

You have expanded your list tremendously. I also think you are a hidden gem. You are so well read and all that is sitting in a little office off of Warwick Blvd. How have I known you for so many years and not known that you are so steeped in classical reading? All these years your knowledge and insight on classical works have remained anonymous to me. Of course, it is only in the past ten years that I have been systematically trying to read more of the ancient classics. My goal has been to work through works of poetry starting with the Epic of Gilgamesh and working forward. I am up to the Canterbury Tales. This is a method Susan Wise Bauer recommended in her book Educating Yourself Classically. Once I work through the poetry I will begin with the earliest novel and work forward. I have a jump on that one. I have read more novels and I am half way through Don Quixote.

My last read was Water for Elephants. I have to beat myself to read fiction, but I have been diligently reading from the bestseller list over the past five years. On of my favorites is Their Eyes Were Watching God.

    Catch you later,

    You Ignorant friend,

    Hey Girl,

Good to hear from you. I am reading Pillars of the Earth. It is an older novel set in the middle ages. Since I am teaching that historical period I thought it might be a good read. So far, so good.

Need to see you soon. What are you doing this weekend?

    Luv,

    Paula

Are you leaving the shelf. I figured you could fill up volumes on this sight. I look at your bookshelf often.

Thanks for joining. It is fun to see what others are reading. A friend of mine has challenged me to pick my top ten favorites. I am working on that.
    Love you,
