Hello! I'm an American librarian living in the UK - which is fabulous. I love books, especially paranormal romance and urban fantasy. I tend to read 3 - 5 books a week, I'm a bit insane like that. I'm here to get some good suggestions and chat with other bibliophiles.

Hey, thanks for the reminder. I've read Sea Glass and I loved it- I'm just really sad we have to wait such a long time for the third installment.

    The Ancient One says

    The Size of Your Heart

It isn't the size of your house as such
That matters so much at all.
It's the gentle hand and its loving touch
That make it great or small.

The friends who come and the hour they
Who out of your house depart
Will judge it not by the style you show
But rather by the size of your heart.

It isn't the size of your head so much.
It isn't the wealth you found
That will make you happy -- it's how you touch
The lives that are all around.

    For making money is not hard;
To live life well is an art.
How people love you, how they regard,
Is all in the size of your heart.

Blood and Ice is a unique take on vampires, is stand alone and is as much a psychological thriller and romance as it is urban fantasy. I was very impressed by this book for multiple reasons and could even make an interesting series.

Hi, I saw your question to Lori and thought I may throw something in the mix. Christine Warren writes good stand alone, sexy paranormal ubran fantasies. Mark of the Demon is an excellent debut novel. It's the first in a series, but it could easily stand alone. The Vampire's Seduction by Raven Hart is one of my favorite series, but the first book could be stand alone but it is a very good series.

I've only recently begun to read series. It seems lately that it's getting more and more difficult to find good stand alone books. I just bought Her Faithful Symmetry.

Hmm I read mostly series too. The only thing that I can come up with is Sunshine by Robin McKinley. Which is one of those books that you either love or hate. I loved it BTW. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

Hi Nichole!! I've just started reading Blood Promise, ooooh it's gonna be good! I noticed you read it 6 days ago, and gave it 5 stars!!! This series is totally awesome! I can't wait to read the Richelle's other books. I also noticed that you have The Host in your tbr list, I really recommend it! It is a lot slower than most books to get going, but what a beautiful story. It's the type of book you want to savour. Hope things with you are going well. I really need to take a good look at your shelf, you have some great titles I haven't heard of before!

Nothing like cozy weather for great reading! I'm on the West Coast of Canada, I know all about grey and rainy weather!!! I can't wait to read the Dreamfever books, they are on my tbr pile. Currently I am reading Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampire series, which is YA, I don't discriminate! I figure if the author is good with the adult books than the YA books shall be good too:) I'm all over the map, I'm excited about so many books. I tend to like to read an entire series at a time if possible, but lately I've wanted to try so many authors! So many books, so little time... Have you read the Sookie Stackhouse books? I really enjoyed that series, I'm two books into the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison, I'm liking those too!

Thanks for the friendship:)! Wow we have 197 books in common! I'm envious of you living in the UK, are there authors from the UK that enjoy reading? They always seem to do mysteries so well... I love Minette Walters, although she isn't paranormal romance...

I looked up the series and I do believe I have them all ready on my shelf. If you could double check my shelf for me to make sure it is the series you are talking about by Karen Chance I would appreciate it.

Yep, just picked it up at the library yesterday. I started it while sitting at the library and will probably read it next when I finish The Russian Concubine. Even though I have 3 others about to be overdue at the library! Oh well. None of them were a wait to get so no biggie if I don't get to them. When I get about halfway I'll probably start the discussion.

Colleen Gleason has the Gardella Vampire Chronicles. I hope they are good- the covers sure are promising. What kind of douchebag steals a book off the hold shelf?
