Hello! I'm an American librarian living in the UK - which is fabulous. I love books, especially paranormal romance and urban fantasy. I tend to read 3 - 5 books a week, I'm a bit insane like that. I'm here to get some good suggestions and chat with other bibliophiles.

    Hi,

It looks like we have a few books in common and we both like historicals. If you're interested, stop by and check out my Historical Romances group. Among other things I have a quizzes post and an "Upcoming Releases" post.

Sigh... I dunno. Lots of weretiger crap... Jean Claude and the rest are just not around. In this last installment, it was major Edward stuff and Edward was... not himself. He talked. About his feelings. And then it was spelled out to her (by several people bc she is clearly so DENSE) that he wouldn't kill her and would instead kill anyone who killed her, then maybe himself if he felt like he let it happen. What happened to the loveable sociopath? And the Harlequin attacked, but the final battle was nowhere near as frightening as the lead-up and now the were ones are her puppy dogs or whatever.
More "local cops don't take well to slutty, tiny women" stuff... blah blah blah...

I felt that way about The Mortal Instruments. Laborious at first, but by the end of the first one I was on board.

I agree- can't wait to see how Savannah develops. It seems like she packs a lot of punch.

I haven't read Cassie Palmer. That will be next. I finished Shadowfever 2 nights ago and am still "coming down' ;) Black Heart Loa is next and then I am ready for something new.

I have to avoid fanfic- I feel like it's a rabbit hole. I have certainly spent tooooo many hours on it!

I love the Otherworld series sooo much, too. The short story "Beginnings" was really satisfying. I told Armstrong that when I met her last summer. She was sweet. Did I tell you I geeked out about Dante when I met Adrian Phoenix at Comic Con last year? Embarrassing. I'm trying to get into her Callie/hoodoo series. So far... not totally in love.
Was catching up on Erin McCarthy's Fast Lane series and reading the (final? She finished a book right before she suddenly died) Jaz Parks novel. And picking up whatever latest installment of Immortals After Dark and Lord of the Underworld. Gotta find time for a parenting book in there... seems like I should. ;)

Oh, how was City of Fallen Angels? I'm waiting on that from the library... the buzz around casting that series for film is pretty entertaining.

You are stronger than I. I can give it up- I know I can. Flirt was a pure insult to her remaining fans. Did you quit Merry as well? At least that one doesn't pretend to be something it's not. I guess if she ends the series and I hear it's worth it, I can always go back and skim. Most of it's skippable. ;-)

I'm just starting Shadowfever- I love Moning and it took me forever to get to her Fever series. I finished Dreamfever last night and my jaw was just hanging open. OMG! NOOOO!!!! (Then I have to remind myself it's a book and not real. lol) I heard it's being made into a movie. Yay! Though it seems it would require a mini-series at least...

What have you been recently hooked on?

Ah! I wasted more hours reading LKH's _Hit List_! WHEN will I learn?? WHEN? It didn't have more than a few good/weird Edward moments and the ending was as though she just got tired and wanted to stop. I need to man-up and stop reading these, don't I?

Funny...our comments on Embrace The Night are nearly the same *grin*
Would you personally recommend A Kiss Of Shadows, by L.K.Hamilton?
(My favourite books out of this genre are the Cassie Palmer novels and the Feverseries)
I apologize for any mistakes I might have made (my English leaves a lot to be desired *sigh*)
    Greetings ; )

Hey! I read your note about reading on your iphone, and I was wondering what file formats you use. I usually read in adope format. I got a free adobe reader for my phone, but then couldn't figure out how to transfer the file. How do you do it?

    Thanks,

    Adele

Hey, thanks for the reminder. I've read Sea Glass and I loved it- I'm just really sad we have to wait such a long time for the third installment.

    The Ancient One says

    The Size of Your Heart

It isn't the size of your house as such
That matters so much at all.
It's the gentle hand and its loving touch
That make it great or small.

The friends who come and the hour they
Who out of your house depart
Will judge it not by the style you show
But rather by the size of your heart.

It isn't the size of your head so much.
It isn't the wealth you found
That will make you happy -- it's how you touch
The lives that are all around.

    For making money is not hard;
To live life well is an art.
How people love you, how they regard,
Is all in the size of your heart.

Blood and Ice is a unique take on vampires, is stand alone and is as much a psychological thriller and romance as it is urban fantasy. I was very impressed by this book for multiple reasons and could even make an interesting series.

Hi, I saw your question to Lori and thought I may throw something in the mix. Christine Warren writes good stand alone, sexy paranormal ubran fantasies. Mark of the Demon is an excellent debut novel. It's the first in a series, but it could easily stand alone. The Vampire's Seduction by Raven Hart is one of my favorite series, but the first book could be stand alone but it is a very good series.

I've only recently begun to read series. It seems lately that it's getting more and more difficult to find good stand alone books. I just bought Her Faithful Symmetry.

Hmm I read mostly series too. The only thing that I can come up with is Sunshine by Robin McKinley. Which is one of those books that you either love or hate. I loved it BTW. Sorry I couldn't be more help!
