I adored this book. Paul knows that he is gay, but in a very religious town and he himself being religious, it's a struggle. Paul tries to argue with God, but when openly gay Manuel comes to town, Paul and the town change. Many of the town members are very against gay rights seeing as they believe that the Bible says being gay is wrong. Paul tries to be a normal high school teenager with a girlfriend but it never felt right, and he id drawn in by Manuel's bubbly personality. Alex Sanchez is a genius for creating this, a simple idea expanded that really makes you think about what is right and wrong.

The characters in Love that dog are Jack, Miss Stretchberry, Mr. Walter Dean Myers and Sky. Jack is a boy who doesn't like to display his poetry in the classroom. Jack is afraid that his classmates will make fun of his work but really his classmates wonder who writes these wonderful poems. Miss Stretchberry is Jacks's teacher that puts his poems up in the classroom with no name on it. She alwayas puts it on colored paper and most of Jack's poems are inspired from Mr. Walter Dean Myers. Mr. Walter Dean Myers is Jack's favorite poet and one day Jack decides to ask Mr. Walter Dean Myers to come to his school and read their poems. He writes back saying that he was visiting an old friend and he could stop by. The way that he expressed those poems in a book was really good beacause he showed what he was feeling at the time.

    Out of My Mind

I LOVE THIS BOOK SOO MUCH!!! The story really touches me, it shows that no one can stop you from doing anything. The story is beautifully written, I almost cried at some parts! The characters have great personalities, you love and hate them when you're supposed too. Sharon Draper amazed me.

The Strange Case of Origami Yoda

I do not like this book because i am not really in to the Star wars theme and such. I thought it was very weird how they made a group and they would all ask the paper origami yoda questions. Dwight is the main character in 6th grade. He has a crush on this girl and he asks Yoda when he should ask...

Melody is a 11-year old girl who has cerebral palsy. This diasese makes you not able to communicate anyway using your body. She is paralyzed everywhere, her doctor thinks that she doesn't know anything and she is dumb but the doctor and her parents don't know that she has a photographic memory. This means that what ever you see or hear you remember forever. Her parents and the doctor want to put her in a school that is for disabled kids. actually Meloody is the smartest girl ever! but know one knows it. They are trying to make a machine that will let Melody speak her mind. I really like this book because it shows how everything has a happy ending and how she can finally speak her mind. I really like how the author made the reader feel connected to Melody some how.

Her father sent them from Brookyln, New York to Oakland, Cali. Every night her mom , Celie makes them eat Chinese and never allows them to go into the kitchen. They now live a totally different life with their mother. She sends them to a summer camp run by the Black panthers. In this camp they learn what you would learn in school. I like how the author made it happy and sad at the same time.

The main character, Raina seems a little stereotypical in the way she acts for her age. All the characters do, not all thirteen year old girls are hormonal messes. She loses her front teeth when she falls, that makes me want to cringe it seems so painful. Raina Telgemeier told the story in a witty way that really makes you sympathize with Raina.

    Countdown

This book was very interesting, and a very accurate portrayal of the time period it's set in. It's during the early 60's and the Cold War is going strong. The main character Francie was eleven and very naive. I felt like at eleven I wasn't as unsure of world events as she was, but I suppose it was the 60's. All the other characters seemed very realistic, the games of children never really change and the stress of war always makes the worry lines on parents faces. Deborah Wiles has very honest writing, she tells the story from how she thinks and isn't afraid to people out on their flaws, even if they are the underdog.

    The Graveyard Book

This book was exactly what I expected. The writing was excellent and I liked the characters, but I have read books and fairy tales just like it before. I would have liked more of a twist. The part of him living in a graveyard was fresh and I would have tweaked some of the plot.
