Welcome to the History Non-Fiction Group. There are a few group rules posted at the top of the group page. Please take a moment to review and if you haven't already done so, introduce yourself in our "Welcome and Introduction" thread and tell us what your interests are. Our group reads are done on a quarterly basis and the Oct-Dec quarterly group read has been announced. (This quarter there are choices because the voting was so even.) Hope you'll join us and again, welcome to the group.

Welcome to 1001 BOOKS YOU MUST READ BEFORE YOU DIE!
There is a general explanation of the group and some answers to FAQ under the discussion thread GROUP GUIDELINES. The past BOTM can be found pinned to the top for 2011, 2010 and 2009 if you want to search discussions you can join in anytime.
Our September BOTMs are
1. Smilla’s Sense of Snow by Peter Hoeg
2. Reasons to Live by Amy Hempel
3. Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse
We are reading David Copperfield by Charles Dickens as a seasonal read. The discussion threads are pinned to the top. Won’t you join us for one or all of these group reads.
We are voting for October’s BOTM so be sure to check out that discussion thread and join the voting.
Welcome to Good Reads, Maria.
We are glad you joined and want to encourage you to participate. In August, we read and discussed Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri; in September, we'll be reading The Vagrants by Yiyun Li.
The group profile should give you some idea of how Good Reads works and the shelf provides a list of some of the other books we have read. Please feel free to post to any of the older book discussions as well as the new.
And, don't forget to vote for the October read.
