I'm a writer as much as I am a reader. In some cases, probably more so. Like many, I tend to read things that let me escape. The destination isn't that important. The journey is. I can and will read just about any type of story as long as the writing is good enough to let me forget that I'm reading. To me, that's what it's all about. The story needs to take me somewhere and flow like a lazy river. I work to make a living. I don't want to work when I'm reading.
Some of my favorite authors are Stephen King, Harlen Coben, Robert Jordan, and as an all-time favorite, Mark Twain. Each of them have different styles, but what they do well is take me somewhere else. I like stories that move, have a sense of adventure about them, and if it has a bit of mystery attached, all the better.
I write when I have time and when I get restless reading. If that sentence doesn't make sense, the restlessness comes in when nothing seems to fill the void or the need. The writing phase has been strong the last few months. I'm currently working on a 2012 novel. The books on my shelf are mine and those I've greatly enjoyed over the years.
Books that are mine are open for review. Let me know if you're interested, I'll shoot you a copy.
