Hi!
*My name is Leisha and I am an absolute book junkie! I spend a great deal of my limited free time reading and stay awake far, far too late each and every night reading. It's an addiction and I'm OK with it :) I am the proud owner/operator of my own blog: http://rolopolobookblog.com/ I would be delighted if you would stop by, check out my site, and follow me if you like what you find.
*In my non-reading, daylight-ish hours, I am an art historian who is fortunate enough to do what I love. That is, I teach art history and after years in the classroom I am now teaching on-line. Who doesn't love working from home, right?
*I will generally give any book and any author a try but I also live by the motto "Life is short, put down the crappy book." I am particularly drawn to books that are character-driven and have fast, witty dialogue. I truly believe good characters and good dialogue can carry a book. I like my books to have a strong plot that is advanced and developed through dialogue and characters I can connect too. I find that I am also drawn to on-going series with characters that return again and again - if it ain't broke, don't fix it!! I will read light and fun books just as readily as books with more serious and/or darker themes, twists, and turns.
*I prefer the following genres: paranormals (Adult and/or YA) with a strong preference for vampires, witches, and as of late, angels; urban fantasy; light crime/suspense; humor; historical fiction, particularly if it involves British royals of any period or art and artists; the occasional and odd mystery/thriller; and on a very limited basis sci/fi and fantasy
*I will totally judge a book by its cover and/or title. Don't think me shallow, this is how I discovered my favorite author (Christopher Moore) and many, many an excellent author and book along the way. Some of my favorite authors include: J.R. Ward, Philippa Gregory, Lara Adrian, Gena Showalter, Lynsay Sands, Melissa de la Cruz, Richelle Mead, and Susan Vreeland
*When I write reviews I try to be as honest as I possibly can and provide constructive criticism. I have not and will not trash a book or an author in print as I find this to be unprofessional and tacky. As my mother and Bambi both taught me: if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review your book!
Cheers,
Leisha O.
