Gabie does a favor for Kayla when she switches work nights at the take-out pizza restaurant. When Kayla goes missing following a delivery, Gabie learns that the caller asked for her. Is Kayla alive? Was Kayla's fate meant for her? With the help of her co-worker Drew, Gabie searches for answers. When all others give up, it is Gabie that believes Kayla is still alive. Author April Henry adds fictional police reports, 911 calls, notes, missing posters and other material to lead the story along on its taut course. A thrilling, fast-paced read for the young adult audience.

Hazel is terminally ill with cancer. That her life will be short is known. What may be unknown to the reader is how cancer changes the life she has left. How do we treat a child with cancer? What happens to their friendships when they can no longer attend school? And what possibilities are there for love? This is the interesting part of The Fault in Our Stars. What I found hard to believe was the extremely witty, intelligent, older-than-their-years banter of these 16-year olds. It was funny and crackling, but didn't ring true.

A curious child stands open to the possibilities of Frog Bog Forest. She finds adventure and friendship in the company of her younger brother. People say, every story has already been told. To tell it again, one has to offer something different. In this cute picture book, one is offered quite nice illustrations and book design. Sometimes it's a full spread of color, other times, an artfully arranged pair of glasses in the corner. Readers will also appreciate the smart text and quick pacing in a story to suit the adventurer in all of us.
