I am a Franciscan friar (i.e., a member of the Franciscan Order in the Catholic Church), and was ordained a priest in 1984. Though based in Chicago, I am not a local pastor, but have a full-time apostolic ministry combined with a life of prayer.
"What does that mean?"
The work is basically that of itinerant preaching and of equipping people to extend the Kingdom of God; yet such ministry requires not only prayer, but a lifestyle that makes frequent and quality prayer possible. Thus I have conducted many retreats, days of recollection, apostolic leadership workshops, healing services, missions and revivals, and in the past have initiated a summer street ministry. With others I have trained as a team, I have ministered to clergy and laity of many ethnic groups, ages, and denominations. I have also been a featured speaker in diocesan, regional, national, and international conferences, and have made several appearances on Christian television and radio. As of 1996, the ministry began extending itself through publication -- a pamphlet, and articles on themes of evangelization and ecumenism have preceded this first book.
In my entire life as a friar, I have had relationships with Christians across denominational lines; this eventually led to involvement with international efforts of reconciliation between Evangelical Protestants and Catholics. This book, "The Stained Glass Curtain", is the product of these many years of "Crossing the Evangelical-Catholic Divide to Find Our Common Heritage".
