Good to connect with you, sir, thanks for your interest in my work.
Thanks for participating in the drawing for a copy of The Knowledge of Good & Evil. I appreciate your interest in my work.
I'M SO MAD AT U BECUZ I TRIED TO HACK ON 2 UR ACOUNT ALL THE POSSIBLE WAYS THERE R AND I STILL COULDN'T
I'm going to send it NOW! ha ha Sorry for the wait...
Did you finish the series finally? If so, what did you think of the ending? Were you surprised at all? How?
If not- what is surprising so far? What parts have been the most exciting? What would you change if you could change a part of the story?
Which is the best book in the series? Why? If there was a fourth book, what would it be about? What questions would you want answered?
I was really hoping you could use your imagination to change something in the book. For example, I would add more mutts in the arena. I think they are really cool and imaginative. I think wolverine mutts would be awesome if they mutated them to be huge.
What is going on in District 13? How did they survive all these years? What is their plan for the revolution? What is your opinion on President Coin, the leader of District 13?
Enjoy the book!
DUE BACK 5/3
Please use complete sentences. It's hard to figure out what you're saying otherwise.
You're almost done! How has Haymitch been helping this time? What did you think of "the plan"? Why are so many people willing to sacrifice themselves to help Katniss? Why has she become so important to so many people?
Is there anything you would change or add to the book to make it better for you?
DUE BACK 4/30
Did you figure out the trick of the arena yet? I figured it out before it was revealed. It was very clever.
What do you think of Beetee and the District 3 tributes? Are they doing anything to help the group? What do you think they need to help out?
How is Haymitch helping this time? Is Peeta any different in the Quarter Quell than in the 74th games? How has Katniss changed since then?
What has been your favorite part so far?
DUE BACK 4/23
So were you surprised when they had to be reaped again? I know the book is slower in the beginning, but it builds up a lot and now it's all action again.
You have a lot of questions always about things, so why don't you ask me a few to start off this new conversation.
DUE BACK 4/13
I think some of your predictions might come out true. Regardless, I think you will enjoy the book. But please stick with it, it's kind of slow for awhile but it builds and builds and builds. The last section is really good.
What did you think of Haymitch? Did he turn out to be a good mentor in the end? Why or why not? Use details from the book to support your answer. Do you think the end of the Hunger Games 74 would have turned out differently if Kantniss and Peeta had had a different mentor?
Good luck. Enjoy the break!
I'm really glad that you enjoyed the book and movie. I plan on seeing the movie next week sometime, so I hope we can talk about how it was different than the book. Also- in your responses, be sure it's clear what questions you are answering. I'm not sure what you meant unless I went back to read the question and then your response. In your response, turn the question into part of the answer.
I think the ending was a big surprise. Did you? You can tell how angry Snow was. Katniss had been forced to do all these things she didn't want to, but now she turned the tables on the Capitol and forced them to do what she wanted. Interesting.
What do you think Catching Fire is about? What would you like to see happen in the story? Make a prediction for me.
DUE BACK 3/28
I think Peeta had a tough life even if Katniss didn't think so. His mother was awful to him. I think in some ways he wanted to use the Hunger Games as a way to prove himself to his mother and to the others that think he is a weak baker.
What did you think of the ending? Did you like the 'trick' Katniss pulled on Snow and the Capitol? How do you think President Snow will react since Katniss changed the games?
What surprised you most in the book? What part would you change if you could? What would you like to know more about?
On to "Catching Fire" now!
DUE BACK 3/27
I like your question in this response. It shows you're really doing some thinking.
I think Haymitch drinks to forget. You learned how alcohol affects the brain, so Haymitch is using it like a medicine or drug so he doesn't have to remember the things he did in the past and what happened to him. You'll learn more about Haymitch in some of the later books.
What do you expect to happen once the games begin? What will the arena be like? What will Katniss have to do survive and eventually win? How does she feel about this? Does she have any tricks up her sleeve?
What other questions do you have? Do you have a favorite part so far? I liked the story Katniss tells about Peeta giving her bread when she was young. It reveals a lot about the characters in the book. Have a good time reading.
DUE BACK 3/14
You can change books. Maybe you'll feel like coming back to it later.
What do you think of the Hunger Games so far? What has happened to the world? Why do they have these Hunger Games?
How would you describe Katniss? What do you think of Gale? Why do they hunt? Why is District 12 so poor?
DUE BACK 3/9
Thanks for all the posts! ha ha
So the series sounds like it has gotten super exciting. Tell me about Gary and Hodge. Who do they work for? What do they want all these orphans for? Do they have some sort of plan? Do you think these orphans would be able to succeed at whatever they have to do? How do they feel about all these things that have happened to them.
Keep up the good work,
So you've moved on to the second book now. They have now joined together with a lot of other orphans. What are they going to do? If you don't know yet, make a prediction.
Why do you think Jonah didn't want to touch the rock? What was he feeling at the time? Was it a good decision?
Tell me about J.B.. He sounds interesting. Was he undercover as the janitor? What is his real role in the story?
This sounds like its getting good!
DUE BACK 2/24
Let's work on capital letters and spelling when we're working on these letters, Jose. For example: there should be replaced by they're in your first sentence.
That's interesting they're adopted. Do they know their background at all? What weird things have happened to them since they got the letters? Do you have any ideas about who is sending these letters and why?
Do you feel the characters have bonded together more because of these letters? Why do people do this? Can you think of an example from your life or maybe a book or movie when this has happened?
Good work, Jose.
DUE BACK 2/17
That was a good response, exactly what I was looking for. Nice work, keep it up.
Do you have any idea who these kids might really be? Why are they "missing" and where are they missing from? Make a prediction.
How do the characters feel as they are thrown into this mystery? Are they scared like we would be? What makes them be able to brave do you think?
DUE BACK 2/13
I am asking you which one you're most like in personality. Are you funny? Which character is funny? Are you brave? Which character is bravest? I want you to compare yourself to one of the characters.
Also, what do these letters say? How would you react if you got a message like that?
