I don't know - pretty sure it's a little old for your sweetie, but maybe a read-aloud? I just knew you really liked that series.
I saw that there is a Faulkner group on here.

Linda, I discovered "GREAT CAKE MYSTERY . . . . Alexander McCall Smith (#1 Ladies' series novel for young readers/Precious Ramotswe's first
case/eight-year-old Precious tracks down a snack thief/original title: Precious and the Monkeys)" through one of my groups on here - the "Cozy Mystery Corner", and thought you might want to check it out to possibly share with that granddaughter of yours when she is a little older.
