    smile book review.
smile is about a girl name raina telegmair who was coming home from girl scouts and was raceing with her freinds. she tripped and her tooth fell out. her other front tooth was lodged in her gum. you learn about her adventure through the oral presidures she gets. but also she has a lot of drama in her school. she has a lot of ''boy trouble'' and worried her friends wont like her because of her teeth. but at the end she notices that life is not about being popular or changing for other people its about being your self and being happy with youself

    North Ward recomendation
I would recommend this book to people who haven't been through hurricanes before because we don't have to worry about hurricanes in Illinois. This is because we are not anywhere near the oceans. the people i would recommend this to are 10 year olds to adults because they would understand the book and enjoy it. I think that most people will enjoy the book.

    North Ward opinion
I really liked the book because Lanesha has gone through many obsticles and never gave up. She loved Mama YaYa her care taker so much she wanted her to survive with them but when she passed Lanesha was very brave and she kept going. It was a little depressing but the author made it very happy in the end of the book. Even though it isn't a true story it describes how much trouble the people went through in huricane Katrina. It made me want to keep reading it over and over. I learned that no matter what you should always keep trying.

    North Ward summary
North Ward is about a girl named Lanesha who goes through hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. She lives with Mama YaYa because her mom died at birth and her dad nobody knows where he is. Mama YaYa tells Lanesha to prepare for the hurricane. Lanesha is very nervous that she won't live through the hurricane. Her and her friend Tashon start preparing with food water and shelter. When the hurricane comes they have to go to the attic because its so bad theystart to notice the water rising up the stairs. Lanesha told Lashon that they have about 2 hours to prepare to go to the roof. Later that evening Tashon tells Lanesha to go to sleep. Lanesha pretends to fall asleep she notices that Mama YaYa is having trouble breathing. She removes some blankets from Mama YaYa and later realizes that she's gone. They then decide to start moving to the roof. They grab everything they can. Soon Tashon notices that they are not helping Mama YaYa. Tashon asks "what about Mama YaYa?" Lanesha said that she is gone." They see a row boat they tried and tried to get the boat for a while then Lanesha decides she needs to get in the water. She is really scared because she hasn't had lessons. she manages to get the boat and they survive down the murky water. they see a speed boat coming towards them. they get rescued

    Maddie Yang Recommendation, 9-10
I would recommend this book to anybody who is having troubles with middle school because if you think you have it bad he's got it ten times worse. I would give this book a 8 out of ten because it was very good but some parts seemed unrealistic. Like when at the end his video was shown on T.V. on his favorite show. Or when Elliot just decided he wanted to be friends again.

    Maddie Yang opinion, 9-10
I liked this book because it was funny and serious at the same time. It was serious because their mother left them nut it was funny because she moved in with a beet farmer. another example is when Hammy died, serious, Sophie giving him a cupcake and him getting a swirlie, kind of funny. The book was kind of easy for me and it wasn't too confusing to me. I thought it was mostly believable but some part were't like when he got a swirlie. I Don't think that happens anymore but I'm not sure. I thought the ending was kind of weird and like to good to be true. My favorite part was when he presented his Einstein report with Sophia. This book reminded me of my cousins hamster. He was really cute and small.

    Maddie Yang summary, 9-10
I read How to survive Middle School by Donna Gephart
In this story David is scared about starting middle school because of all the horrible rumors he has heard. It is just as bad as everyone told only worse. He and his best friend broke up and now Elliot is best friends with Tommy the biggest bully in school. Tommy and Elliot pretend that everybody is going to break the dress code on the first day of school but only David shows up with out his uniform! Then David and Elliot have a physical fight in the lunch room and David has a 1 day suspension! To calm his nerves David makes videos and he posts them on Youtube. One of his favorites is called "Hammy Time" and it is his pet Hamster Hammy singing "Can't Touch This". He wants to show them to his mom but she left. He still mails her though. He writes her about a girl named Sophie. She is his only friend. Sophie makes him famous internationally and he is interviewed several times but still having trouble with school. One day Hammy dies and Sophie brings David a cupcake. Tommy thinks it is David's birthday so he gives him a swirlie. David is so upset he just runs home. He was so sad he sat around all day in his room. When he went back to school it was OK. His video got out because of a local newspaper and his video was showed on the morning announcements and everybody liked them, except of course for Tommy. He was especially mad because Elliot had apologized and was on David's side now. At the end of the story David's idol the host for the Daily Show Jon Stewart shows one of David's videos on his T.V. show. That night David and his family invite everybody over to watch.
