The setting of this story is in Afghanistan at night is when the main part of the story. the main characters are Fadi, Habid the dad, Mariam the sister and Noor the other sister. when fadi and his family had to leave kabul because of all the things the taliban were doing to the people and his mom was very sick and in kabul they dont have the right medicine to help her. so they decided to catch the truck that comes to u.s.a but when fadi and his family were getting on the truck a rush of people came and fadi was holding his sister but her hand slipped when she was grabbing her bear. and he lost her so after that in the story fadi was blaming his self after fadi and his teacher went to a muesam and meat a man who was rich he found saw picture of fadi and his family and asked where is that girl and he said he lost her so he donated money for her to come america where fadi now lives when she came back everyone was waiting for her outside the airport .
I think this book could have been better the auther should have added more deatails but take away deatails and unessary parts and this book was very predictable you could have guess every part of the book because it would have a part where eveyone is sad and blaming their selfs and other moments where fadi was like i will do a fundraiser or i will enter this compition and then nevery talk about it again in the hole story. most of the book was about fadi and noboby else just parts were focused on only fadi witch i did not like at all. the ending was not even believable like i said before it was just predictable, it started like halfway when it was predictable also it was a boring story it didt have to much action or sad moments. But it did have some great parts when mariam got left behind i could feel all the chracters emotions and feeling and when fadi didt win the compition i know what it feels like to lose something you really wanted to win.
i would recommend this book because it gives you a chance to relate or connect but you kind of decied the story because its pretty predictable. i would rate this book a 3 out of ten because i dont think there were too many falling action rising action and it skipped parts the book has one chapter of a diffrent topic it also mentions the main charaters but only talks abot one of them.

The Breadwinner is about a girl name Parvana who lives in Afghanistan. Her father only has 1 leg because of a bombing. One night Parvannas family were telling stories. All of the sudden the Taliban come break in and kidnapp father. Father is in prison away from the family. Nobody else can get food because there women. So Parvanna cuts were hair and is know "boy". Know she can get food for her family. For the rest of the story you meet new characters and ways they find father. Father is in a prison and is very ill when they find him. The family take him home and he gets better and works again.

In some parts of the book it was very good but in others very boring. it was pretty easy to read and in some parts very surprising. the ending was very good and inbetween very suspenfial. i would give this book a 7.5/10.

i recommend this book to people that like sad susspenful books. in some parts it was also very adventures. learning about what the family had to go through. they had a lot of trouble providing for the family and finding father. i think a lot of people would like this book.

The Breadwinner is about a girl living in Afghanistan with her family. The girl's name is Parvana. Parvana and her family live in a one room house, life is going better than most people's in Afghanistan. The Taliban then bust into Parvana's house and take her father to prison. Parvana must dress up like a boy, so she can sell things in the market. When she runs into her friend from school, they end up selling things together. When Parvana's sister Nooria gets married, and Parvana stays back at the house while Nooria and her Mother move away. Father is returned home, but things aren't all happy. Parvana and her father find out that where Nooria and Mother moved has been taken over the Taliban, then know they must travel and find them.

I thought that for the most part the book was very enjoyable. Some parts of the book were very boring, like parts when Parvana and her family are trying to fall asleep. Some parts were very exciting though. One of the most action packed parts of the book is when a man gets his arm cut off by the Taliban. I thought that the ending was very emotional, and it was a good way to end the book. One connection I could make was between Shooting Kabul and The Breadwinner. In The Breadwinner, someone gets taken by the Taliban and they try to find him, and in Shooting Kabul the girl gets lost and they must find her.

I would give this book a 8/10. I thought that the book was good in some parts but other parts were very slow. When the father gets captured by the Taliban, it is chaotic, and it is probably one of the best parts of the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books about war, and history. Also I would recommend it to kids that are 10 years old and up, just because it has some parts that are more adult themed. Overall, it was a good book and most people would enjoy it.
