“This book takes place in Palestine, and the main characters are Karim, Joni, Hopper and Jamal. The problem of this book is that the Israelis are keeping the Palestinians inside with what they call curfews. When the Palestinians try to rebel, the Israelis come back and destroy them. For instance, they bombed Karim's school, and they brought Hopper's brother to jail. I think that the theme of the book is to keep going no matter how hard it gets because thats what Karim did and he got shot in the leg.
I liked when Jamal told everyone that he had got shot, but he had really hit his head on an air conditioner. He made himself look tough when he didn't even get shot. This book was a little easy and sometimes predictable. When Karim was running, it was really obvious that he would get shot, but you wouldn't know where. My favorite part was when they said "We'll Survive" at the end. I can relate to Karim because he plays soccer and I do too.
If I had to rate this book on a scale from 1-10, I would give it a 9.9, because most of the book was really good, but there was one part that almost made me sleep.”
