“Zombies vs. Unicorns is an anthology edited by Holly Black and Justine Larbalestier. They fuse stories of Alaya Dawn Johnson, Maureen Johnson, Carrie Ryan, Scott Westerfeld, Meg Cabot, Garth Nix, Kathleen Duey, Margo Lanagan, Naomi Novik, Diana Peterfreund, Libba Bray, and Cassandra Clare. The stories are divided by zombies and unicorns to represent which is better than the other. Each author shows a unique side of the zombies and unicorns. Half of the short stories portray how awesomely strong the unicorns are, and the other half portray how keen the zombies are. After each story, the editors talk about the narration and make strong arguments between the mythical creatures. Reading different sides of each creature is difficult to choose which side should win because the perspectives of each story are really interesting. The compilation of the stories are insightful and fun to read.”
