Until I began to write creatively, I honestly cannot tell you that I loved writing! I have written, oh so many things, in my eclectic career. From the library world to the business world, writing was a daily necessity, but far from my favorite activity. The career choices that sparked electricity in my veins were "climbing mountains" and creating new things. Music, math, and science came way too easily in my early years. Writing and understanding literature did not. So, I chose English as a major in college! My first career was librarianship. My high school librarian at NFA was helpful and kind to everyone. I wanted to do what she did, and I did. As a reference/YA librarian at the Simsbury Public Library I loved the hunt to find answers for my patrons --- whether it was up and down the tall staircase in that historical building in which I worked, or on the telephone. As I look back, my career has been populated with many experiences in which people told me something would never happen, and thankfully I did not believe them. I relished the journey of making good things happen with the help of other people. Producing this first book was no different. It is an attempt to fictionalize an event from my family's genealogy. UNTIL THE ROBIN WALKS ON SNOW tells the story of a devoted midwife and an immigrant family who struggle to save a baby weighing 1.5 pounds. In 1922, babies weighing less than 2 pounds had only a 5% chance of survival. The book is a fictional rendering of my uncle's birth story. I am thrilled to share it with you. « less
