I'm a quirky British crime writer who once challenged a flamenco troupe to a dance-off. I'm a politics graduate and worked for the British Home Office for a number of years. My debut novel, FRY, is a sizzling psychological thriller which combines romantic suspense with an intriguing crime mystery that will keep you guessing until the very last... more »

'Some people have to die. Other people have to kill them. That's how it is.'
If you like Quentin Tarantino, this one's for you!

"Some people have to die, other people have to kill them. That's how it is."

Syd and Marcy gives the reader insight into the minds of serial killers who struggle to distinguish between reality and fiction. This is an incredibly dark novel about disturbed, downtrodden people who have should never be in the possession of guns. The book contains graphic scenes of sex, drugs and violence but it also addresses some of the underlying causes. Whilst I didn't quite feel sympathetic to the main characters, I felt sorry that their pasts had lead them to such twisted situations. Beaird Glover has a sophisticated narrative voice. This is not violence for violence sake, but a journey into the depths of deranged minds.

    Don't Fear The Reaper

Great Psychological thriller with a touch of 1980s nostalgia thrown in!

A bus full of holiday-makers crashes, turns upside down and balances precariously over a cliff in Corfu. The Grim Reaper must now decide how to fill his quota of 16 lives. In order to make this decision, he talks to some of the passengers on the bus, finds out a bit more about their lives and discusses with them who should be allowed to live and who should die. Set in the 1980s, this book practically has its own sound track. I had the song Don't fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult going through my head the whole time I was reading this. Don't Fear the Reaper is fast-paced, well written and will leave you wanting more. I will definitely be reading some of Garry Kay's other books.

This was the best book I read in 2012. I have read other Lisa Jewell books and enjoyed them, but for me, this one was in a league of its own. It was a really fascinating, deeply emotional book that I just can't recommend enough. Loved it!

I really enjoyed this book. I didn't know much about leprosy before reading this, so it was really interesting. It was the kind of book that once you pick it up, you just can't put it down. I liked the pace, the plot. pretty much everything.

I really enjoyed this book, as I have all of Victoria Hislop's books. It was well researched and enjoyable and the characters really brought it to life. I was less interested in the modern day elements of the story, but they were only a tiny part of it. Excellent read, I highly recommend it.
