I just celebrated my 73rd birthday and I've been writing and published since I turned 30. I've written a weekly newspaper column, children's stories, newspaper feature stories and Op/ed pieces, magazine articles, nonfiction books for kids and grownups, and now I'm writing Christian fiction and children's stories to publish on Kindle. And, I blog. I love to read. I love to write and I love readers. The only thing I know that is better than reading a good book is writing one.
About the non-writing side of my life: I've been married to, and in love with, the same man since August 1959. We have a son and a daughter, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Come July, we expect to have another one. On the pet scene, we have a standard poodle and three cats of assorted heritage. The cats rule, the poodle is compliant, and we're their subjects.
On the religion side: My husband and I were raised Southern Baptist. During his career, his job took us from coast to coast and the Canadian border to the Gulf. With all the moves, we have attended many denominations and learned that we can worship with many different congregations. And we learned from each of them. Now I try to practice my religion, based on faith Jesus Christ and nurtured by my own daily Bible reading, all the time, every day of the week. When I'm in the right place, at the right time, and God calls me to serve (help someone in need), I want to be ready.
I like sewing and needlework, but I don't do much of it any more. I don't like to cook that much, but I like to eat, so I do it anyway. I like to garden but mostly putter with pots in the sunroom where I have some beautiful African violets, outstanding Christmas cactus, and green foliage I can't name. I like to dabble with paints and canvas, and I love to play games - computer games, board games, and card games. Almost any kind of game is fun for me.
Although I have many interest, writing and reading are at the top of my favorite activity list and readers are next. I'd love to get to know you.
