I like this book because it uses repetition in its words, which is a good tool when reading to young readers. It uses adjectives to describe the pirate such as scary, tough, fearless, and greedy and it can be used to teach about descriptive words when talking about a person. Lastly, this book teaches readers that it is okay to cry sometimes, especially when you lose someone that you love.
My favorite quote from this book is, "All pirates cry, and so do I."
I would relate this book to How I Became a Pirate by Melinda Long and Do Pirates Take Baths? by Nadine Bernard Westcott because all of these books are about pirates and aimed for young readers. ”
