“I didn't really know much about this book when I got it in the mail and when I started reading it. I haven't read any reviews on it and I haven't really seen it making the rounds and blog-hopping across the Internet. So I cracked the spine without any prior judgments, completely clueless of what to expect. And, I didn't love this story, but, I didn't hate it either. It was one of those reads that falls in that in-between territory. By the end I didn't find myself nitpicking about what I liked and didn't like, I just found myself going "Yeah, okay, that was alright". It was enjoyable but it wasn't one of those epics that stay with you. The story is told from the perspective of fourteen-year-old Bonnie who is stranded on an island in Thailand with several other girls. The story takes place in the 1970s, which was interesting. It's pretty much what you would expect from a 'stranded on an island' story. There aren't really many surprises and it all comes to the expected conclusion. I would probably recommend this to younger readers, definitely in the 12-14 age range. This one wasn't really for me but there are probably tons of people who would really enjoy it.
