“Pretty Little Liars- Ruthless
by Sarah Shepard
published by Harper-Teen
Genre: Mystery, Drama, Thriller
In earlier books it was discovered that Spencer, Hannah, Aria, and Emily's old best friend Alison who was thought to be dead, was actually pretending to be her twin sister and had come back from a mental hospital to kill the girls. The girls escaped and Alison was thought to have died in her attempts to kill the girls, but on a spring break trip to Jamaica the girls meet a stranger named Tabitha who looks way to similar to Alison and seems to know secrets that only Alison knew. When Tabitha starts talking about these secrets like asking Hannah, "How can people like you afford to vacation in paradise? How did you do it?" The girls freak out and Aria pushes Tabitha over the edge of a third story balcony but when the girls go down to the ground they can't find her body. Ten months later, they are back in the US and receive a new text from their old stalker 'A' saying, "Killing the innocent breaks your own innocence!" And later that week the girls see on the news that they found Tabitha's body and it really was Tabitha, not Alison, and the girls find they killed an innocent person!
The author made the book very suspenseful so that you never knew what was going to happen next. I think the book would be good for girls my age with a lower reading level because I went through the book way too fast. The book has some similarities to the show based off it but it's pretty different over all. The book was well written but a little too wild and unrealistic.”
