Sadie is a sophomore in high-school. Her family moves and she is forced to go to a new school. She wants something to be unique and interesting about her, so she makes up a peanut allergy. Sure, it gets her a few friends and maybe a boyfriend along the way, but in the end Sadie learns that one white lie can get you into a lot more trouble than you think. Paul Hoppe got me caught in this book. I'm usually a very slow reader but I whipped through this book in one day. Peanut is a graphic novel great for middle schoolers both boys and girls. I loved this book and its perfect if you are looking for a quick fun read.

Summer and Bird are sisters living in their little cottage with their mom and dad in the middle of nowhere. Out of the blue the girls' parents disappear. Their mom leaves a letter made out of drawings that forces the sisters to decode what it is saying. They decide to go into the woods in search of their parents. Along the way the sisters get separated and have to fend for themselves, until they meet some friends of their own... Katherine C.'s writing if for a more mature audience. I know for me I found the book to be kinda confusing at times and hard to follow. If you are planning on reading this book make sure that you have a good attention span. I thought this book had an amazing story line, but I just don't think it was exactly right for me. Overall, if you are looking for a whimsical, imaginative book, this would be the perfect read for you.

There are 13 in all. Ginny travels all over the world in hope of completing the tasks given by the envelopes. Maureen Johnson does a great job of describing all the places Ginny goes. So well, that you feel as if you are there. I thought this book was good. I recommend it for girls aged 10-13.

Maile Meloy does a great job at making "real" characters. This book has mystical aspects to it, but she does a great job at making it all seem completely normal and non-fiction. I really loved this book. I recommend it for both boys and girls aged 11-14.

This book is slightly depressing. It is about a girl (Melinda) who is suicidal because at a party she felt uncomfortable and called the cops. Everybody hates her in High School now. She feels very alone and has no friends, and she pushes away anybody who wants to become closer (you will figure out why if you finish this book!). The conflict is between Melinda and Andy who was an important role at the party. The authors writing is very realistic, and a little sad.

    The Golden Compass

I loved this book. It included lots of action and mystery, with all of the dust and stuff (and you never really find out exactly what it is). So I really want to read the second in this series.
Recommended for 12+ because of wording? Sounds old-timey, kind of hard to understand at times.

    Looking for Alaska

I actually liked this book a lot. John Green is a great author who wrote another one of my favorite books (The Fault in Our Stars). This one is about a boy named Miles who goes to a boarding school. He meets a bunch of people and a girl named Alaska.
I recommend this book for 12+.

This is my ultimate favorite book in the whole wide world! The characters in the story are Hazel and Augustus. Hazel has lung cancer and at her cancer support group she meets this boy named Augustus. He changes her view on life and they go on many adventures together, discovering what it means to really live. The conflict in the book is when Hazels cancer becomes really serious, and she is prohibited to go places she really wants to go. The authors writing is really passionate and you can tell he put effort in his book.

    The Fault in Our Stars

I LOVED THIS BOOK. It's about a girl, Hazel, who's diagnosed with stage IV cancer but miraculously survives. She falls in love with a guy she meets at her support group (Augustus Waters), who has osteosarcoma. I'd recommend this book for anybody, I guess, over 12, because it has some hard words.
