“I started the book and left off on 174. I really love this book even though I just started. I have been anticipating this book for a while now and I still consider Maggie Steifvater as my favorite author because she writes the best werewolf love dramas I have ever read. I am sick and tired of the vampire love dramas ever since Twilight. The characters are so relatable to me because I ‘am a teen in high school just like them. New characters have joined and older ones are taking another step in development ever since the ending of the first book. I really, really love this book and can’t wait to read more.
I am at page 298 and I still love this book. I still love the tight bond between Sam and Grace because it shows that no matter what they will look out for each other until the very end. Cole is a new character to the series that I don’t like. He is at the point in his life where choices really make a difference, and he purposely isn’t making the right ones. He used to do tons of drugs and drink lots of alcohol when he was in his band. He chose to become a werewolf because he didn’t like being human, which is understandable because his life was lead in a very unhealthy way. Even though his life was terrible he still made the bad choice of becoming a werewolf. In this book the werewolves aren’t giant muscular wolves that stand on their hind legs and slaughter people, they're normal wolves with human eyes; they standout from other wolves and show a much more human-like emotion that is only readable to the most observant people. I am finished with this book and all I can say is that I was not disappointed. I wasn’t disappointed because this book has almost everything I like genre-wise. I like werewolves, fantasy, action, teen, and romance occasionally.
Maggie Steifvater, the author, set up the finale for the book for more action without giving away the third book’s twists. The transition from the first to the second book was very smooth and well done by the author. It made the end of the first book feel so naturally connected to the start of the second book because it went through their lives. This book has touched my heart because it made me feel the joy, pain, suffering, and happiness that the main characters have felt throughout the story. When Cole decided to become a werewolf he was in at an all time low, when he was going through the stages of becoming a werewolf he had to go through the pain and suffering of transferring back and forth between human and werewolf because he was a new blood.I wish there were more books like this out there in the world because this series is the only one of its kind that I have picked up and read. ”
