Halt: Halt is Will’s master and trainer.
Gillan: Gillan is also a ranger, and Halt’s former apprentice.
Evanlyn: Evanlyn is King Duncan’s daughters maid, who is lost wandering, when Will, Gillan, and Horace find her. She aslo plays a big part in this book.
Morgarath: Morgarath is the kingdoms enemy, who has been trying to destroy them.

Plot
In this book, Morgarath has risen again, by killing all of the kingdoms commanders. And now has an army, and plan that if it goes through will be sure failure for the kingdom. But Will, and a new character Evanlyn, make a huge difference, and change everything. Will they be able to complete this dangerous task?

Setting
This book doesn’t specify when the time setting is, but from my point of view it is sometime around the medieval times. And a majority of the book takes place in the plains of Celtica. If not in there, they will usually be at Castle Redmont.

Ranger’s Apprentice: The Icebound Land
Plot
From what I have read in this book it seems the plot in this book is, Will and Evanlyn get captured by Skandians and are taken to Skandia to be sold as slaves. And Halt who will do anything to rescue him, goes beyond his limits to save him.

Plot
This book is about a kid named Will, all his life he dreamed of going to Battle school and be like his father, who died in battle before he was born. On the day of the “Choosing” he is very nervous and is starting to doubt himself, being a smaller weaker kid. But when the decision is made, he is disappointed, or his he? Throughout the book he starts to like his new role as a Ranger.

Characters
Will is one of the main characters in this book. He was chosen to be a Ranger’s apprentice, but he isn’t really sure what they do.
Halt is Will’s teacher, who also plays a great role in the book.
Horace is one of wills friend who was chosen for Battle school, but starts to have some trouble with some of the older kids. He does not play a huge part but the book is building on him.
Gilan was Halt’s previous apprentice who him and Will meet up with and start working together.

Setting
This book does not state a time period, but from the text I am guessing around the medieval times. Some of the main places in the book are, Castle Redmont the castle where they are all placed. Halt’s cottage is Halt’s home, where will trains and studies to become a Ranger. The Plains are a huge grassland where Halt and Will travel to start their adventure.

The Hobbit
Plot
Bilbo Baggins the main character of this book, is called to an adventure. But he simply doesn’t want to, but he does anyway. He, Gandalf, and the Dwarves, travel across the land in hope of defeating the dragon and getting the treasure. During the adventure Bilbo changes, he shows great bravery and courage. Before the adventure he had everything he needed, anytime anywhere, he went from five or six meals a day to one or two.

Characters
Bilbo Baggins is the main character of the book, the one who is called to the adventure and the one who is supposed the defeat the dragon.
Gandalf is a wizard and is the one who suggested Bilbo to be the hero of the adventure. And assists them in their journey, well at least for part of it.
The dwarves are well, just dwarves.
