My favorite character in this book was Leo, a son of Hephaestus. Whenever everyone was sad he would cheer them up with a joke. In this book Jason learned to work together with others and that he can't do everything. I think that Leo changed a lot during the course of this book. At the beginning he didn't really feel included and he felt like he was a fifth wheel. But as time went by, he realized that he isn't the fifth wheel and he is a very important part of the group of demigods.
If I could talk to the author of the book I would ask "Why did Coach Hedge go with the demigods on their dangerous quest?" I was very confused when Annabeth and Percy fell to Tartarus at the very end of the book. As I read this book I was thinking about characters in other situations and how they should respond to the situation they were in. I was also thinking about how I would have done in that situation. I really liked all the funny jokes someone said or something silly that someone was doing.
One of the most important parts of the plot is that Annabeth had to find a statue of Athena to reunite the Romans and Greeks in order to defeat Gaea. The most important word in this book would definitely have to be Gaea. Without her there wouldn't be this book. She is trying to destroy the world with the Giants at her side. If I could change the ending I wouldn't make Percy and Annabeth fall to the dark pit, Tartarus. I would also finish the book with the Greeks and Romans reuniting and forgiving each other for past issues. This book was really good and I recommend it to anyone.
