Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Sadly, there was a lot missed in the movie presentation of the novel. Some of these were my favorite parts in the book, which made it worse. The sheer suspense during the middle and end parts of the book kept me reading for hours at a time. The second greatest Harry Potter book I've read.

In this book Danny Walker gets cut from the travel basketball team in his town ,The Vikings, because he is "too short for their liking." And when his dad, who Danny hasn't seen in years, comes to town, he gets an idea. His dad gets together a travel team of his own ,the Warriors, saying it's for all the kids who ever got told they weren't good enough and all the kids that got cut off the team.
In the middle of the season Danny's dad gets into a bad car accident and can't coach anymore. So the team decides that Danny should coach the rest of the season. Danny doesn't want to, but finally decides to do it. In the end they face the Vikings in the playoffs. With Danny playing and coaching, they end up winning the game against the Vikings and go on to win the national championship.
This book tells you that you should never give up. When people tell you that you're not good enough, that's just their opinion! Always keep doing hat you love if you love what you do.

We read a passage from this book and at first I thought it was going to be boring. But when I started paying attention to the setting and plot, it was very interestng. The book talks abput courage and how strong you can be. The main item in this book. is will. How far are you willing to go? to survive? how mentally strong are you? How can you manage to do the imposiable?

Gary Paulsen writes very well. He uses advance vocabulary and knws how to draw a picture in your mind. He tells a story of a boy who got stuck in the wilderness and describes how hard it is to survive. In the srory, the boy gets hurt with a porcupine and other obsticles come his way. He has no telpephione, radio or any electronics or extra supplies to help him. In the end, one simple invention helps him from dying. This book also shows that you dont need fancy things to survive.

Do With Me What You Will

This is probably as close to a happy ending as far as JCO's adult fiction. I just hoped that after reading over 500 pages, a few more would've fleshed out the ending a little bit more. Laurie Halse Anderson- Speak

For me, this book was really meaningful. It had a lot of things that happen in everyday life included in the story. Such as people being bullied, disrespected, made fun of. It really changed my life reading this story and seeing how people are treated in today's society.
My favorite part in the book is when one of the girls friends sticks up for her because she was being bullied. Another part that I enjoyed reading was when she tells her parents whats going. I liked that part because its not easy telling someone something that hurts you very much. However, one thing that I disliked about the book was that the author kind of made a "joke" out of the topic.
My favorite character in the book was probably Melinda who was the main character, and I liked her because she stayed strong even though she was being hurt so bad.
I would recommend this book to older kids, because the topic is so serious.

My favorite parts are when they talk about Kissin' Kate Barlow and what happens to her, and how the Warden suspiciously wants them to dig holes for "character", when really it makes you wonder what she's looking for. It's really a great book, and it's fast pace too, so you're never in a dull moment!

I liked this book a lot when i read it. In this book the only barriers protecting camp half blood are depleting and the only way to protect and restore them is for the main characters Percy Jackson, Annabeth, and grover to go to the place in the world they know as the sea of monsters. We know this place as the Bermuda Triangle. And when they get there they must find and retrieve the golden fleece and destroy the monsters guarding it.

I really liked this book because not only is it a cool adventure but you have to think of whats going to happen next and how they will solve the puzzles and problems that will happen.

I really liked this book and cant wait until this movie comes out this summer so i can see how it is and compare it to the book.
