Like most people on this site, I really love reading books! I tend to gravitate towards urban fantasy, in particular ones with a dash of comedy in them. My favourite series is Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files.

Lately I have been revisiting old favourites and exploring recommendations from readers on shelfari. I enjoy psychology and... more »

Hi! How have you been? Sorry I haven't been friendlier, but I've had some 'puter problems and was just recently able to get back to shelfari. And how I have missed it!
I was so hopeful for The Forest of Hands and Teeth! As you said, it had such a good premise! I go on reading sprees, and right now, it seems to be Young Adult. I had just finished The Hunger Games and had heard such good theings about The Forest of Hands and Teeth. It started out so well and then went downhill so very fast. I can only think of one other book where, by the end, I was rooting for the death of the main character. LOL. Have you read the follow up book, The Dead Tossed Waves? It's about Mary's daughter. But since I diliked Mary so much, I don't know how much I would care for her daugher.

You said that I should say what I thought of Death Note if I read it. Well, I'm reading it now, just started today, and I LOVE it! It's great!

I would actually have to take a trip to the library to look and see which books of his I have read. I have read about 25 of his books, I liked everyone. Some I liked more than others. I love his combination of mythology and urban fantasy. Sorry I couldn't be more help on this one :)

Hello, I have been perusing your list for some new author's to check out. I noticed you have Charles de Lint Spirit in the Wires. It is a good book. You might want to try one of his earlier books with Jilly Coppercorn. I think you would really like her.

Hi, I'm Ema, also from the UK and I have just started up a group on Shelfari, but for UK members. I noticed how difficult it was to search for UK users on here and thought it would be pretty cool to have most of the UK members in one place :)
If you're interested the link is: http://www.shelfari.com/groups/49405/about

Hope to see you there xx

Percy is great, the second book really made me laugh. I need to finish them but i'm trying to get to the bottom of my TBR before I buy more books but i doubt that will happen lol!

Oh Percy Jackson is fun and nothing too demanding. I love Greek myths so it was fun reading.

I haven't read her other books, she's bringing the next trilogy out to follow after Black Magician trilogy this year. I have her other books on my shelf but just never get round to picking them up.

Well i've just checked your shelf and you've read most of the books that have wowed me like the hollows, kate daniels and mercy thompson. I'll recommend Anita Blake but her series has gone a bit off track with sex at the moment. I'm disappoint cause although i do read smut books i don't want too much in my UF books. definately give them a go though.
Shiver and Wings are beautiful books with such magic and enchantment in them.
Karen Chances books are great too, i love the stories, lots of action and fast paced.
Percy Jackson is brilliant, funny, action packed and full of greek myths and monsters.

I was pleased to see you've read the black magician trilogy by Trudi Canavan. I loved those books. They were the first fantasy books I read with an element of romance.

I haven't yet reread a book but i plan too at some point. I think its because my memory is so good for plots that I don't see why but recently i've been unable to remember some books.

Aww I'd love a dog but with 4 kids and two kids plus one big kid (hubby) I just don't have time.

ooo sounds good, I'll have to get that soon although my tbr now has 69 books in it. It's almost toppling over. I just love treating myself on a weekend to a lovely new book.

That's my feline babies Bill and Ben. They spend most of their time asleep but usually on my lap while reading.

It's nice to meet someone else from the uk on here :)

I haven't heard of Moira J Moore, but it sounds fun! I'll have to look it up.

You should definitely read the rest of the Thursday Next books. They keep being really fun. And his other series, the Nursury Crimes Division books, while not as good as Thursday Next are still worth the read.

I'm actually still in the middle. I left it at work over the weekend, and then got sucked into another book. But so far I like it. Have you read anything by Fforde before? If not, he has a tendency to throw you into the world, and then explain things as you go. I always have a hard time getting through the first few chapters of the first book in a new series by him. But I'm always glad I did. I'll let you know how the book goes!

    Reading anything good now?
