Hey, is that Shakespeare guy any good? I see you're reading two of his books. How does he compare to Nora Roberts?

Kathy, We're on the same page with our book list. I recently reserved The Help and The Potato Peel from the library and I've read Sarah's Key - really enjoyed it. Learned a bit of history I'd never heard of - interested to see if that's your experience as well. Started Year of Wonders (book on tape) and thought it was just so so. I'm enthralled in The Other Queen and I'm not surprised, as I loved The Other Boelyn Girl.

This is a great series sponsored by the New York Public Library a few years ago--which I guess is an annual event. They came out seriatim and I read them as they came out. They commissioned scholars from various disciplines--anger was by a bhuddist monk; lust by a philosopy prof--you get the picture.

Karen Long, PD book editor, recommended Snowflower when she addressed the GA Women's Club several years ago.

Well I am slowly getting the idea of this. I am registered and posted two books -- at least I think I did. It's probably good for my character to admit that the first book I posted was a raunchy page turner!!! This whole thing makes me a bit uncomfortable, because reading choices are very revealing, aren't they? But I do have to tell you that "Guernsey" is a great favorite of mine -- one of those books I wish I hadn't read, so the pleasure was still ahead for me.

Welcome to 1001 books. You can keep track of the books you have read from the book, 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die, join in the discussions on the books we are reading for the month (BOTM) or you can debate the merits of the list as some enjoy doing. We hope you will want to join in the choosing of BOTM and the discussions. The current books are pinned to the top for that month. There are older discussions that can be found by searching discussions. If there is any way the group administrator can help further feel free to ask one of us. If you don’t own the book the list can be found at the top in the group description or at http://www.listology.com/content_show.cfm?content_id=22845. A downloadable list of the second edition is available at http://johnandsheena.co.uk/books/?page_id=160.

    Hi Kathy,

Thanks for the note about the books you love! I read Water for Elephants, History of Love, and The Red Tent also. This is a great way to keep connected about we are reading! I just finished The Senator's Wife and Olive Kitteridge while I was in Florida.
