I'm an 18-year-old bibliophile. Story of my life. I learned to read when I was 4 and fell in love with books immediately. Every time I crack open a book to read a whole new adventure awaits me. I travel to Narnia and Middle-Earth without ever having to leave my house. I explore new worlds and discover new things through the eyes of the characters that guide me on my journey.
As fascinating and exhilirating as these adventures are, the most important and incredible biblio-adventure I have every day is a continuation of my spiritual growth in the amazing walk with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through His Word, the Bible. The Bible is God's inspired word, and it daily becomes more valuable to me in my Christian faith. I can study in depth all the great literature of Homer, peruse the sonnets of Shakespeare, and analyze the allegorical poems of Milton, but if I do not have such a passion for the Bible and immerse myself within it's teachings, all that knowledge gained is worth absolutely nothing to me in light of the fact that God's word is truth. What He says means more to me than any other, more than I can even express. I love my Amazing God. :)
In addition to a passion for God and reading, my third love is writing. I have a blog and for me, blogging is quite the thing to do when I allow myself to focus on writing rather than procrastinating. Inspired thoughts are swift to leave and difficult to convey once I've procrastinated blogging about them. I'm getting better at writing them down, though. I frequently grab my pink Peanuts-themed journal in which I write songs, poems, and short contemplations whenever I feel like writing. Another book is dedicated entirely to stories that I'm writing. Yes, I always write more than one at once, and have been for awhile, at that. ;) One of my many aspirations is to become a published author. Right now I'm working on writing a story which takes place in Scotland. I've had to do quite a bit of research on the country as a result, and have found that it is so much more beautiful than I realized. My sometime-in-the-future planned trip there can't come soon enough!!
That brings me to my next point. Although born and bred a SoCal girl, I am always happiest when I'm in another country or traveling. So far, Mexico/Carribean regions and the Dominican Republic (both visited on mission trips) are the only places outside of the U.S. that I've been to. I want to travel more in the future, and if given the chance, I would gladly move to Europe. As much as I love the USA, missionary work is more than likely not going to keep me enclosed inside her borders.
It's hard to decribe what subjects I particularly favor when choosing a book. I will read philisophical, fiction, reference, religous, Christian, inspirational, non-fiction, manga, paranormal romance, adventure, fantasy, health...the list goes on and on. I'll read anything good. I'm a sort of broad-based character, myself. :D
